#remove ranks and just show lp like 700 900 1100 bla bla bla

not a bad idea but people like having a title assosciated with the rank "gold" "diamond" "challenger"
hi gm peak 1100 lp speaking ahh shit
eh but then it changes with every game? if you’re in gold and you go on a lose streak you can still be gold but your lp rank changes and is much more volatile?
no u just remove all ranks and make lp like iron 4 0 lp and then it goes up like bronze is 400 lp and so on
you're requesting they show us only the hidden number and do away with divisions? the hidden number was hidden for a reason. people much prefer normalized gains/losses over the truthfully wild swings the actual mmr system has. there would be wins you get close to nothing for and losses you lose tremendously in resulting in lower player satisfaction
that is presicly what im asking for
It's actually the opposite of this. The ranked system hides the MMR, so that it seems more responsive to successes and failures and it's actually more volatile. This is exemplified by what happens with people who have a big or loss streak and have mega-imbalanced LP gains/losses. This is the ranked system being pulled back towards your actual hidden MMR (which is less variable/moves more slowly). Why do they do this? Engagement. It makes people want to engage more with the ranked system. Back in Season 1, we had actual Elo values that were not hidden.
preach brother
exactly so why would riot move away from engagement
so, your lp gains and losses are softened and stabilized, gently nudging you towards a number we don't have access to
your LP gains/losses do NOT shift wildly between games
how much MMR you win/lose is not nearly as stable as the LP system
people do not like having a random game of +7 or a random game of -28
when you queue up you're pretty damn certain within 1 or 2 LP of what you're going to be getting for win/loss
it's more extreme for tft because there are eight placements, but to get the point across
you can lose mmr for going 2nd in TFT
people do not like knowing the expectations the system has of them
very negative LP states like what OP describes really only happens to players who are in massive LP debt from losing close to 0 lp often
eh, I wouldn't mind, but I'm not the kind of player riot is trying to get/keep on the ranked ladder.
cuz less exploitative system?
