in every game that reaches the point where someone is lv 18 i become fish food. Am i doing something wrong or is irelia just useless in the late game?

not useless but you definitly get outscaled so longer the game goes

maybe its the team coordination in these lower ranks that is allowing the enemies to kill me so quick, sometimes i die before i can even ult, and when i ult i die before i get to q everyone

I think everyone in gold is going in at the wrong time. Tho i usually have 3.2k hp at lvl 18

Also, don't expect to live long if you dive right into the whole enemy team late game, they will focus fire you. On skirmishers and divers you often want to be flanking or at least following up on allied engage.

I think a lot of Irelia's are sleeping on Titanic Hydra on her (it's a great way to get some health while still getting useful damage in the same item, Hullbreaker is also great for this and is espectially nice if your getting to sidelane a lot).

irelia has bork for a must build and then everything else kinda sucks, you gotta try different items and see what works

she has more good items than just botrk, but botrk is obviously extremely good and worth rushing. Some other great items include: Trinity Force, Wit's End, Titanic Hydra, and Hullbreaker.

I usually end up with both Hull and Sterak's if i got fed enough earlier, alongside with wit's end, death dance or kraken, depending on the enemy team

Honestly Titanic's probably a better item than Sterak's for that slot (she utilizes the passive on-hit damage extremely well thanks to both having an innately high AS with passive stacks+itemizing AS from other items she tends to build. I think Kraken Slayer, while strong for damage output is probably too greedy of a buy (I really think you can only get away with one fully offensive item on her in a proper build).

I think I've generally built BotRK+TF (either order) and then Titanic 3rd a lot on her) and it felt pretty solid.
