The main one is that this wouldnt only increase your queue time, but it would increase everyone's queue times
If we actually remove the option to put a seccond role entirely, then if you play a popular role (I assume you do or else you would have nothing to complain about) then your queue times are going up by much more than a couple minutes

While this initially feels like a compromise, it doesn't really solve the problem. If a critical mass of people elect to play their favorite role (why wouldnt they?) then it ruins queue times for everyone

This would only be a problem in higher division (GM+)

It would be a problem in all elos, but it would be a more significant problem in higher elos
Keep in mind we have something of a tragedy of the commons here too - the more people that queue mid only, the harder it becomes to actually roll mid without putting it specifically, and the longer queue times will be for mid players

August nicely explained how this idea wouldn't work on yt awhile back. The tl;dr is that role popularity isn't 20% for each, so in order to get a game of LoL going you kinda have to enforce that which is why autofill exists. Secondary is there to try and help you get something you'd prefer if possible as an alternative.

there was a recent change where autofilling is reduced and also balanced so there is an equal amount of fill per team. theres plenty of first time-able or easy champs in the game. Its not a bad thing always because an adc going something else means adc players will learn how other roles work and get better at macro and not just micro. this counts for all roles but its the most popular one and is an example. most top laners and mid laners know enough about macro to play each other's roles and for jungle... that can be a mess sometimes but champs like amumu, volibear or diana make it so you just have to focus about teamfights and macro, no more micro.
iirc autofill protection protects you from 1 or 2 games so its not like you can get filled every game
