Aatrox - Top laners just want to carry every game, they love melee champions that has the potential to 1v5 a teamfight. Then I picked Aatrox because he's been the most popular top laner since patch 13.22.
Viego - The jungler that can do it all, viego can spam gank, afk farm, skirmish well and most importantly carry games. Most junglers are too specialized into either being good at ganking, farming or skirmishing but Viego isn't.
Zed or Yasuo - imo the most popular mid laners has always been assassins/duelists rather then mages. The only time mages are ever popular is if they are meta, as soon as they are nerfed their playrate becomes nonexistent. So with that thought process, I said Zed or Yasuo because they are probably the face of the assassins/duelists class.
Kaisa - I only picked Kaisa because off the top of my head, she has always been the most played adc for a long time regardless of meta. But looking back on it now, I would probably change it to Ezreal.

Of the most commonly picked midlaners currently only 4 of the top 20 champions are not ad champs. And of those 20 only 7 aren't considered mages -> If you consider fizz and akali a mage then the number is lower
Assassins are nly really common when they are in meta because they are feast or famine while mages are a lot more consistent and for the last two seasons they have had a decent time while assassins got hit with dura patch and lost the op duskblade (invis one)
And yasuo/zed/yone/akali which are 4 of the top 10 champs aren't even good right now. Yasuo/Yone got nerfed too heavily through the lt nerfs and didn't receive lategame compensation buffs that were meaningful. Zed lost his cringe urf build and akali's buildpath got nerfed, but the champ is also playing against a lot of champs that she struggles into currently

They are always being played cuz the players only like that playstyle but they aren't always in 'meta'
