TheOneRokutis on EUW.
I am going on win streaks non stop. I win 5, lose 1 then go and win 5 again.
So my gains pre Emerald were +24 -25 or something like that.
I get to Emerald. I'm getting +17 -29
Like, how is this even fair. Like I am just forced to start a new account, because for some reason I am just blocked from climbing. What would happen if I got to diamond? +4 -40?
#How and why is my mmr suddenly so bad.

Your rank has outpaced your MMR, keep on winning and the MMR will eventually catch up.
also for whatever reason, once you hit diamond your lp gains improve by quite alot
mmr gains go to shit once ur about to hit diamond but then it resets when you hit diamond so expect it to get worse LMAO
I have won 14 out of my last 18 games since I hit diamond and my lp gains are only getting worse
Yea, you're continuing to gain LP faster than MMR, eventually you're going to hit a high enough rank that your WR will drop, and from continued play, your MMR will rise to meet your rank.
can the MMR catch up if I continue winning?
now I have 18 wins out of 22 but im still getting 20
If you somehow keep like 70% WR, no not really, but losing isn't helping you either, the system will eventually get you to where your WR is reasonably close to 50%.
Bascially your LP gains are biased by the difference between your rank and your MMR to try and pull your rank towards your MMR (MMR is moved only by wins and losses, and goes up for wins, down for losses, it is somewhat effected by average MMR of the lobby and MMR averages of each team, so winning a stacked game isn't as useful and beating a stacked enemy team to your MMR, but all wins will increase it and likewise all losses will decrease it).
Yea, your MMR is shooting up with all the winning you've been doing, but so has your LP (at least as fast)
Looking forward to when it finally says +21 atleast i'll know it's starting to turn
based on how well your wining is going, if this isn't a lucky streak, I think reaching Masters is very likely
I've played well everygame besides 1 that my mid solo carried on
Yea, that makes me think masters+ is in your future
But I don't mind that I keep winning it's just a slow climb to maters
yea, Diamond+ is like top 5% of ranked playerbase
actually more like top 3% rn: https://www.leagueofgraphs.com/rankings/rank-distribution
It's a huge difference between D4 and D3+
yea D4 is a lot of that top 3%
that's where the ranked grind end for most of the players
yea, Diamond is a lot more obtainable goal for very good players of the game
is this true tho? im diamond 2 45 lp EUW and opgg says im top 1.21%
Yea that sounds about right
people don't realize that half of the ranked playerbase is <Gold or thereabouts.
yea Silver 1 has 50th percentile now it looks like
Edit: for flex, for soloqueue it's in G4 atm.
(was approx. S2/S3 line before they added Emerald this split).
like Gold players are above average LoL players
This said, for competetive games in general, most people suck at them, so good in what most people would consider absolute terms is usually a much higher standard than 50th percentile of playerbase.
I mean, SC2 is a more extreme than LoL in that GM is like top 1% of playerbase and the difference between a 5k MMR (top 200) player and a 7k MMR (top pro) is so extreme that the pro will win like 90%+ of games played between them
like a top 200 SC2 player almost can't take even a single game off of a pro
Finally +23 it's starting to move again
Im sorry im dumb, what is mmr, and why does it exist? It just seems like it ruins peoples accounts.
MMR is matchmaking rating, it is how the game determines your skill level and decides who to match you up against (people of similar MMR)
