I have played the game for over 6 years and have always noticed something, League of Legends doesn't have subtitles! In some games such as Rainbow Six Siege you have those small texts at the bottom of the screen showing Operator voice lines and minor obvious sounds. People who are hard of hearing, deaf (or other complications such as ADHD) may not be able to hear/notice things such as Sion global ultimates, Corki packages, Kled Ultimates, turret "you are now being targeted" pings or small QOL things like champ voice lines. I personally have ADHD and things such as Global Ultimate Sounds don't register or are very difficult to pick up and that really affects my quality of gameplay. Having a subtitle setting in League of Legends would make the game a lot more friendly to people with neurodevelopmental conditions like ADHD, spectrum conditions and people with other conditions such as being hard-of-hearing or deaf. They could also be used to show champion voice lines which would bring more attention to cool details such as champion interactions which I personally always loved. Players who have these conditions are forced to have a much more of a difficult gameplay experience compared to neurotypical or standard hearing players, which shouldn't be right, especially since other games such as Rainbow Six Siege and even Minecraft have subtitles to suit these players and their needs.
#League Of Legends Subtitle Feature

*Just to add: It wouldn't provide any gameplay advantage besides being supportive of players with conditions such as these, it's essentially another QOL feature such as colourblind mode.
Also making it so that you can move subtitles across the hud like chat would be nice so that its not always in the way
Agreed, it's just a really good feature to add
i saw r6 and the first voice line i thought of was "LMG MOUNTED AND LOADED"
Rip old chanka
I miss him 💔, now he's got pocket Molotov's
All they need now is to add a operator that yeets napalm at ppl leaving a lingering aoe
Bring life to the 'pocket sand' meme
If minecraft has subtitles idk how league doesn't
but they still do consider disabilities such as colourblindness
so hopefully they implement this
Its still gonna be hard for them to implement since they are gonna have to start tracking abilitiy instances and perform checks every 50-100 miliseconds or less. Thats too much calculations already. Or they could just set the instance value on creation for example on E press ahri charm is pink, if(colorblind?){ charm=colorchange} blah blah blah. But if thats the case then hackers can change how abilities look for others, unless they keep such changes locally and dont send it to the server
idk how rito code their game but lets just say from what i've seen so far its a fucking mess
Eitherway considering their latest features(the client ui updates) its not a change coming anytime soon
On the plus side the 'find game' button now glows
They do that for champs like kled already (the tick checking at least), they recently doubled the tick-rate checking for when to check if kled has 100 courage
so it might honestly be the coder-laziness to just copy paste code at this point x)
but things like that for a single champ is fine. We are talking about a different topic if its a 5v5 in mid and theres a shit tonn of aoe's/skillshits going off
Imagine how heavy this will be on the game
Bro leave that elementalist lux skin used to crash league just for how fucking needlessly excessive it was
I believe it should only be for voice lines and semi-global ults/things that need subtitles
so things that are only audio cues such as kled r, sion r or semi-audio cue such as corki passive
That would be good, but if they do implement this they should also consider other abilities too and go through the whole rooster at that point
Its just such a good quality of life update
Colourblind mode only affects a few abilities, like singed Q and a few "scorched earth" AOEs + health bars
And make it so you can seperate between only globals and normal abilities. being able to switch one on and off would be dope
I think that goes into the "gameplay advantage" thing
hmmmm i guess
i also sent a ticket just in case this doesn't get momentum
true that, fingers crossed 🤞
