The time has come!

That's right — here, on our last Wednesday of September, it's finally time for all you super sleuths to round up your clues and take a guess at the MONTHLY MYSTERY THEME. As a reminder, the past few weeks' answers have been: Moby Dick, the Kraken, and JAWS/Bruce the Shark.

What do all these clues have in common? What connects them? One bright detective amongst you is about to crack the case wide open!

Whomever guesses both the overall monthly theme AND today's riddle correctly will be rewarded 1,000 XP. This prize can only be won by the first person to get both, so think long and hard about your answers! (And, of course, everyone else who gets today's riddle will still be granted the usual 300 XP.)

Today's mystery message is ...

In silence I slumber where sunlight won't pry
A giant unseen by the bird in the sky.
I'm bigger than ships, with scales like a shield
A monster that slumbers beneath the blue field.
Not bred on the land, not found in a zoo
When I rise from the depths, the sky trembles too.
Aimed for the city that beckons with cries,
I can only be stopped by a titan my size.
What am I?

||Godzilla doesn't really feel like a sea monster, but he does slumber beneath the sea and rise to terrorize the land, which the riddle makes a big deal of. the talk of dueling titans definitely brings kaiju to mind, of which Godzilla is the most famous.||

coral forge ||To me this sounds a lot like Godzilla. Especially with that line about titans....

||There is a part of this riddle that bothers me and makes me think it’s actually king ghidorah. Beneath the blue field could also refer to the ice he was found in the movie. Wasn’t godzilla originally a lizard? So wouldn’t you find that in a zoo? All the while ghidorah is from space so not shot of that. Plus the final clue of only being stopped by a titan their size. When has Godzilla ever been stopped by another titan?! No shot, lol! But ghidorah definitely has. But the problem with my ramblings comes with the aquatic nature of the previous clues. Even though in the movie KG was found in ice, it’s not particularly fond of water, more of the air. So this riddle could be misdirecting from the others to say the real theme is large movie monsters and not aquatic based at all. But it’s still probably Godzilla lol. ||
