Your favorite comic can be a single issue or an entire run, but which is your favorite beyond all else? Why have you connected so much to it?

Loved the Batman ‘66 continuation comics - got me through a pretty bad time when I was losing my job and a closed relative passed away. A good mix in tandem with the original Siegel & Schuster run of Action Comics.

I assume no surprise to anyone, but for me, it's Batgirl: Stephanie Brown. And the "why" is summed up so well in issue 4 of that run, when Steph, who has been an outsider to the Batfamily and to Gotham as Spoiler, gets a tiny word from a little girl named Nell - "Keep up the good work" - and you can just see her whole body light up at someone finally recognizing that she's a hero, she's doing her best, and she's making Gotham a better place. The outsider finally making it, saving the city, saving people - facing her demons - it's just such a masterful run from beginning to end. The art by Lee Garbett, Dustin Nugyen, and Pere Perez, all of whom are still in demand and wonderful artists today, is a showcase of excellent storytelling and appealing design too!

It’s between Batman: Venom and The Death of Superman for me. I really liked Batman: Venom, it’s a great story. Superman just has such a sentimental value to me though that it’s hard to pick between the two

So far Batman: Journey into Knight. Immensley underrated and is a great early career batman story that answers a lot of questions of Bruce's origins and his family as well as his company.

Zatanna 2025:

i love the art and i love the way they captured the way she controls her magic. I was so immersed and it was such a fun read

Batgirl 2025:

the first story i read of cass and it made me love her character. Her anxiety and fear while also trying to heal, it was really sweet im excited to see what they do with it

Batman the dark knight returns. I don't think I can ever fully explain why I love this comic. I was so excited to finally read it/watch it (cause I got the 2 part movie adaptation too) and it just instantly became one of my favourite batman stories. Let's not forget this is the comic that redefined batman into the dark brooding gritty symbol of justice and vengeance we all know him to be

Detective Comics no. 469-476, the famous Steve Englehart run. I was both a comic book fan and a Batman fan before that, but it was with those issues I realized how good comics could be.

Woman of Tomorrow. It's such a profound story that I really needed in my life when I read it.

Superman For All Seasons is the one I go back and re-read the most. It captures the spirit of who Clark is, who Superman is, so perfectly

Batman: Dark Victory is my other top favorite pick because I think it's the best way to show how the Dick Grayson / Robin origin can be depicted in a way that is grounded and serious.

My personal favorite is Harleen (2019). I love Stjepan Šejić'a art, and the progression Harley made from a normal psychiatrist to falling in love with a madman and becoming insane herself just feels very natural and grounded. Definitely the best Harley Quinn origin story that reimagines the classic Batman Adventures: Mad Love.

My other favorites:

  • DC: The New Frontier --> This is an awesome comic that made me feel very hopeful after reading it. Also it has dinosaurs.
  • Batman: The Man Who Laughs --> I think this is the perfect Joker "origin" story, it's not too mysterious like the new 52 and also not too revealing like the killing joke.
  • Batgirl: Year One --> I love seeing Barbara in her early days, and also killer moth is frickin awesome.
  • Booster Gold V2 --> In this one Booster Gold becomes a time master!
  • All Star Western V3 --> I love Jonah Hex so much, but he's very underrated, I wish we can get more content from him :(
  • Batman: Death of The Family --> it's the comic that made me start reading batman comics, so it holds a special place in my heart.
  • Injustice --> This is the comic that made me read the broader dc comics outside of batman, so it's also very special to me.
#

And these for single Issues:

  • Batman Adventures: Mad Love --> The classic Harley origin story that is just timeless.
  • Slayride (Detective Comics 826) --> a short and terrifying story about Joker kidnapping Tim Drake on christmas night.
