Birds of Prey is a solidly fun and coherent movie. It just didn't understand the characters it was portraying outside of Harley. 8/10 movie, 2/10 adaptation. The Flash was on a whole other level of bad that BOP could not even dream of approaching. It's not even a good movie when you take the adaptation aspect out of it

I’ve heard it was a Cathy Yan decision. She wanted established Asian representation in the film, but was uncomfortable using the “silent but deadly” Asian stereotype which Cass sometimes appears to fall into at her surface

which of course baffles me on multiple levels because a) Cass doesn't fall into that stereotype and b) Katana was right there

The SDCC festival for DC this year was quiet due to James Gunn's work on Superman. Surely, some big news/announcements will come next year. The change in the DC logo is definitely a positive.
