I'll use this thread to track progress on this HGUC FAZZ!

The plan is to use the HGUC ZZ as a starting point and incorporate the armor from the 1987 1/144 FAZZ kit. Now, these kits are not actually compatible, so both kits will take some modification.

Also, the HGUC ZZ is the standard ZZ, not the enhanced version which is used as the base of the FAZZ. Plus the FAZZ production version has a different head than the ZZ...so I have my work cut out for me.

The first step is converting the ZZ into the Enh. ZZ version. That means extending the toes and front skirt armor and adding on the calf boosters and rear skirt armor.

Another big part of this build is the backpack. The backpack in the 1987 kit is wrong...it's the backpack for the Full Armor ZZ Gundam, which is a different design than the production FAZZ. In the past, builders have constructed FAZZ backpacks at 1/144 scale using the backpack boosters from the early 2000s-era Sentinel MG kit. I wasn't able to find one of those, so the next best thing was 3D model and print.

The backpack is mostly symmetrical, but it only has one missile pod because the other side is the mount for the giant beam cannon.

There are a few different methods used for the various MG versions..and the line art doesn't show it!

I also wanted to talk about the head

#

The FAZZ production head is different from the ZZ head

#

It's longer, like the Sentinel's

#

So I started with the 1/144 Sentinel head and added polyester putty to smooth out the side vents

#

This matches the line art much better

This looks great,and yea I have a HG ZZ and yea its proportions aren’t near as nice as the enhanced ZZ which becomes the FAZZ,you’ve got your work cut out for you man but your rockin and rolling and I dig it hard
