#Drone Output Affected by Distance

There's a minor bug (unless theres latency I dont see) introduced with the new drone system, as machines appear to be creating a small latency every 4th drone, reducing the output per minute from the hub, if the hub is stationed away from the building. I ran this test at 3 different distances, and for 10minutes each (to account for starting travel time):

Directly next to building (1 space apart for cranes) - 75/m as expected
On the other side of a large island, or approximately 3/4 of a large island away - 73/m
At max range, nearly on the opposite side of a second large island to the west. - 73/m

2 and 3 being the same output sense, as once the "line" is "balanced", they should have the same throughput. Both are slower than directly next to the hub though, I assume because the latency gap doesnt really occur with a minimal travel time, or is so close you dont see it normally (ive seen small bumps down to 74, and then back up).

**The latency between drones was VERY consistent every 4th drone. **2 and 3 would sometimes bounce to 74, but very shortly before coming back down to 73 (I assume due to rounding). Not a huge deal, but seemed worth reporting.

Wide(r) gap every 4 drones in a large line from the same hub/factory pair.

mabe it is bacause of the input?

i mean maybe it is because of the speed of cranes🤷‍♂️

Could be some wonkyness, but not sure why you wouldnt see an input issue showing up in the close range, then. Willing to admit it could be standard latency questions (despite a beefy machine), but Id expect the latency to show up at random intervals, and not consistent. I was surprised either way!

Thanks for this one, we're gonna look into this asap. We want nice numbers!

Kaikalii had what I assume is a similar instance here (unconfirmed, they did confirm full input though):. They're getting 142 total output on what should be 150 between the buildings being used. #🧊modulus message

I did hear on a stream someplace that there's some kind of acceleration to the speed of drones. I don't know if that's still there on launch. But maybe it's related.

Hey everyone! I have figured out the drone speed issue here! It's related to 2 things in your specific setup:

  1. Building cranes are blocked from picking up resources when a drone is coming out of the building.
  2. Your number of cranes exceeds the total number of resources that are needed for the building to produce.
This caused 3 of the cranes to have to wait until the drone took off to pick up their resources!

I've fixed this so now the cranes don't need to wait and in the UI the numbers drop to 0 instantly (as seen in the video). Then you'll also notice between each cycle of the building producing the numbers are left 3 modules more than before. This results in the 4th drone always having another drone spawn next to it! Those 3 extra cranes take 4 cycles to create 1 resource amongst themselves!

We have several things trying to get pushed to live at the moment but we'll get this into the live game as soon as we can! Thanks everyone, hope this explanation was interesting and not more confusing haha!
