{Description}
"This small object contains a highly volatile mixture of explosive powder and minerals that will erupt some time after ignition, or whenever it collides into it. It's also an ingredient for pies to give them a bombastic taste."

{Effect}
Bombs are a utility item concept I would like to suggest for Shadows of Chroma Tower. They're a classic staple of a lot of video games and I think would make for a very fitting item to place into this game as well.

The effect of the Bomb is straightforward:

  • Upon ignition, the bomb will detonate automatically after 5 seconds, even if it is held by the player.
  • The Bomb can be thrown onto the environment, bouncing off of walls and ceilings until it lands on the ground.
  • The Bomb will automatically detonate if it hits a breakable object or monster.

The Bomb will deal a 3 meter radius explosion after that, destroying any breakable object, as well as dealing damage and knockback to monsters. This weapon will also deal damage to its user if it does not collide with an object or monster.

Players other than the user cannot be knocked back or damaged by that person's Bomb.

In addition, if Shadows of Chroma Tower were to have certain "sturdy structures" that can be broken, such as reinforced wooden boards or oddly conspicuous brick walls that look like they could be broken with a powerful force, Bombs could be a premier item (among other things) that could be used.

{Class Availability}
As it would be a utility item, it would be available for All Classes. It'd especially be effective for Invoker for obvious reasons.

{Reasons}
The reasoning is pretty simple (and no it's not because I've got a Zelda bias). These items would add a lot to the exploration and combat of the game, allowing players to clear out areas or monsters, and even escape sticky situations where they may end up being surrounded by enemies from all sides.

Mock-up once again made by me. (This may or may not be a regular occurrence.)

only if theres a chance theres an npc behind the breakable wall (rarely) that depands 500 gold for you to repair his front door

Another thing I would like to add that couldn't make it into the initial post is the capacity.

#

{Capacity}

  • The maximum capacity for Bombs alone is 10.
  • Bomb storage can be increased to 20 if you find or craft a "Bomb Holder", which is a utility item itself.

thought on that... utility slot numbers goes up but you can't store utility items outside of utility slots

#

or make it like one of the options on the looting skill tree (for more utility slots)

rare locust
#

True!

#

Also, just so we're clear, this wasn't the thing I was alluding to in general chat.

gray tree
#

better thought, we get our standard 3 regular slots (standard belt slots) and then some number of bag slots that can hold a ton of their one thing

#

so theres still the you need to open your inventory and reload the utility items part to it rather than just a stack of 20 to pull directly from

The thing about bombs is that I was thinking more so like they can be found in bundles of like, 1, 3 or 5 depending on how lucky you are, and:

  • Right clicking them on a loot stash will put looted bombs in your player stash.
  • Right clicking them on your player stash will absorb that stack of bombs into your utility slot.
#

This way players don't accidentally absorb looted bombs into their slots if they not only get in, but become quest items, by accident.

good think

But yeah, I think bombs would make for a very interesting addition to the game overall. Good utility item for breaking multiple objects, great for if more heavy breakables are implemented into the game, ||Weaver can ignite them and set off like 50 if someone feels like doing that||, and overall would just make for a very fun addition to the game.

yay barrelmancy

#

tho anyone could throw a torch at one too

rare locust
#

Overall I feel like they could liven up the game.

I'd definitely see Bombs being extra effective, in concept, to maybe Living Armors.

torpid python

well a bomb shoots chunks of metal at people so anything which is squishy gets hurt more lmao but it could be cool to see a range of bombs

#

for example standard ones, frost ones, posion ones which do slightly different effects

#

this would expand their use into more of skill depth for later game style runs, especially if you want to do harder difficulty it will give some room for use to either allow you to kill them, deal damage while running for your life and such

#

like imagine fighting a end game boss in the 10man raid and you use a frost bomb to make a frozen floor zone which slows ms by x amount, or a roots bomb to entagle them

gray tree
#

tbh I'd rather that stuff be mechanics to the raid boss/in the arena rather than things you need to bring in

rare locust
#

I mean, I did think about bomb types, but a single conventional one would do just the trick.

#

I don't think anyone would really like the idea of a Gust Bomb.

gray tree
#

I would love a gust bomb

torpid python
rare locust
#

No because my version would be usable on ALL players to knock people away from the epicenter.

#

Would be funny in specific areas.

#

Like the pit in Monastery or Titan's Folly.

gray tree
#

oh wait so a zigg's satchel

#

I'd love that for spacing during a fight

#

enemies on one side, me on the other, we each get blasted away from it -> blam I have way more space to work with

Honestly, I could just make a whole thread dedicated to utility explosives, but that would also present another issue.

Having multiple different types of utility explosives would kind of dilute playstyles and reduce creativity when making classes.

gray tree
#

make specing into bombs be options/a branch on the exploration tree?

#

which taking locks you out of other options

rare locust
#

Why run Fire and Ice Quivers when you got bombs for it?
Why create a class dedicated to creating gusts of wind to support your teammates or sending enemies away for spacing when bombs can do it?

#

Etc. etc. etc. etc.

rare locust
#

At least not one like Bombs.

gray tree
#

nah like basic bombs anyone can use', more specialized bombs require training/tree investment

torpid python
#

or have it a path where it takes points from others, so for example as base all can use conv bombs, then you can increase storage then you can choose upto 3 out of 5 types or something, letting you fix areas thats needed (also not saying it has to be bombs to fix them)

rare locust
#

They should just serve their purposes and if people get naturally creative with them, let them.
