I propose a 30% map reduction. After the initial landing fight there is a lot of dead time just moving into the circle and moving on the cars searching for single targets scattered along the map, makes the game rather slow.
I have had some matches when before the last fight we have been just searching for about 4 to 6 minutes without finding enemies.

Smaller map can work, but they could also make the ring/zone to close faster which should make the game to have less downtime without having to remove some parts of the map

Either a smaller map or a 150-200 player lobby

map size is fine theres just too many bots taking up space that would normally be players landing together and fighting for space

I like the map size just fine, I think there just need to be a few tweaks to mobility.

  • Faster sprint; makes speed carrying different weapons more pronounced so that the mobility gain with a lighter weapon is more noticeable.
  • Sliding; slide when crouching after sprinting and maybe continuous slide down slopes.
  • More vehicles; keep the four-person cars as uncommon, but have other 1-, 2-, (or 3-?) person vehicles as options.

Plus, more teams need to use Soarwynne's ability, that's straight up team-flight right there. If you want traversal, build your team into it.

I think more people solves most of the issues with slower gameplay

I have a lot of thoughts so TLDR:

Biggest problem with the map is how punishing it is to traverse due to the low ttk, slow movement, and infrequent + unreliable natural cover. Resulting in a more camper heavy playstyle as being aggressive can often put you far out of position. Its lack of a core mechanic such as apex's movement or fortnite's building is resulting in misdirection.

The easiest way to look at this problem is to compare it to other BRs

Fortnite: Big maps, Slow movement, minimal natural cover, relatively high TTK

Fortnite's big map and lack of natural cover is heavily mitigated by its higher TTK and unique build mechanic (essential cover on the go)

Apex: small maps, fast movement, lots of natural cover, mid TTK (in comparison to FTTN and Fortnite)

Apex leverages its character abilities, movement, and high cover density to allow aggressiveness w/o the penalty of feeling out of position.

I could compare a lot more BRs put to keep it simple both have intentionality behind their map design, characters, loot, and movement

FTTN atm feels all over the place. Big map, low cover density, slow movement, low ttk. Even b4 adding character abilities this is a campers paradise. Its far too punishing to be out position so the only solution is to find a good pos. and stay there.

Its characters abilities can exacerbate or alleviate these issue depending on the situation. Trying to rotate through the trees? get Xiva ulted while I sit in my Kira fortress. OR, Soarwyne ult saves your entire team's ass after getting an unlucky circle while in the middle of nowhere. Id also add that having smoke grenades is a must and im glad the devs at least included that.

However abilities and utilities should be supplemental to the game's core mechanics. Not a necessity to play. Fortnite works cause of its map design + building. Apex works bc of its map design + movement. FTTN doesn't have that same complemtary base. Map design + what?? what even is its core mechanic? Figure that out and adjust map to work with it. Simple.

Didn't compare bc I don't have enough experience in that game for me to be accurate. However from my little play time it also has the camping-esque problem but w/o the abilities that can enhance it like FTTN

I say problem but what I really mean is meta. Whether it's a problem is personal preference really
