Definitely should start looking at some infra around either global muting or clientside user filtering a little bit, but if they're in your lobby you should be able to ban them.

there's moderation and backend muting but I haven't pushed it live yet. This is why we now have server side profanity filtering 🙁

I now have a server auth'd api with a steam token exchange
so I think I can make that an in-game / website setting

What I would do is client message -> server tags with filtered or not -> other client receives, decides what to do with filtered tag
basically the minecraft system but optional on the viewing side

it was another player's lobby and it was discussed on there this was only "black humor" and the suicidal point was "defended" even by other players.
since he had playtester emblem I thought this is like a joke I dont get - but either way I dont think its funny at all, so I created the post, since there's too much duck-down regarding some sht like that in general.
I also agree with cloud on a real: slurs button is the way to go. let them "show off" how many ppl thought of their words as slur (instead of "black humor") :p

From my perspective, winning the war on censoring people will never happen, so my personal preference is leaning on "block everything allow people to turn off the filter" and if the standard is to turn it off, so be it

I agree, I wasn't trying to say in any regard I disagree, censoring is just also an unsolvable problem simultaneously. It's also hard to actually censor-by-text a decent amount of content like anti-semitic rhetoric or self harm, beyond things like specific slurs.
