they could use some sort of scaling factor, like multiply everyone's score by some small percent and round down or something so people who didn't do much wind up at 0 and people who did a lot wind up at non-zero but still with a bit of a lead

I used to always pick first in duels because I didn't want the pressure of having to clean up and being a disappointment, but then in bot matches I'd get through x number of people and then the bots would walk into a wall and shoot the floor and spin in circles while the other bot shot them or dance in a poison mushroom or electrical field, so then I started going last so the bots can do whatever stupidity they can and then I have to clean up

always great though when the bots leave you like 4 people to clean up

overall though my reflexes just aren't as great as they used to be and I am not great at duels
