If you are playing ranked, Dia and above don't have bots. The lower ranks sometimes do but not always. There are some in the game but sometimes it's just low mmr players as well, I believe

It might also be seeing where your playstyle is at so that it pairs you up with people who are similar to you. Also sometimes queing with people over solo queing sometimes helps a bit
Like it did when you would first start the game. When I solo que standard I usually have like 3/5 people who are real. you can also kind of tell by if they pick a lancer before the match starts and after a round it doesn't go back to the no lancer selected slot

The path traps? only way to avoid damage is either shooting it before it activates, wait for it to disappear if activated
Or be a path yourself because you're immune
It only activates if the path herself activates it, or if you step too close to it

Does anyone know why they’re doing so little balancing around weapons/lancers? So many suggestions and complaints, and I don’t see why they do more REGULAR changes to see how they influence the game.
The game doesn’t have a big playerbase, so I feel like they can take more risks. Proper Balance changes are so rare and usually minor. I wish they just adjusted certain values, messed around with a few lancers, etc… not necessarily reworks, literally just number adjustments. Run those for 1-2 weeks, base those changes on community feedback, see how the community feels about their own feedback, and wether it actually works or not. If not, go back on those changes, find something inbetween, don’t do it at all, etc… if it does work, it works, and then balance the „proper“ balancing around those adjustments.
I get that ultimately that’s what beta testing is for, but it feels like the community has so much feedback and so little of that is properly employed unless something is ACTUALLY broken (like Windwalkers blades), using like a month for „testing“ values like every week using the actual community feels like it would balance the game in a better way long term. Obviously a lot of community feedback will be scuffed as they‘re based on current opinions and guesses on how things WOULD be if certain things changed, hence ACTUAL changes based on these things are needed to see actual influence.
Currently it feels like they’re kinda just basing stuff off of data, which is fine, sure, but I feel like the actual feedback (especially of specific things, cough cough, snipers) from players should be taken into consideration a bit more.
Sorry for this rant, I yap and type a lot, probably bunch of nonsense too, and it won’t do anything here, I just needed to let it out

With bigger games it’s harder to consistently change balancing as they‘ll risk scolding from a massive playerbase, but I feel like here they would definitely be able to afford more consistent changes, especially with how evolving the game is already with cards (which they’re now somewhat slowing down in to find more balance according to the Ask sessions) and with how the game isn’t really „competitive“ either, less harsh feedback for „breaking“ the game and actually understanding at the progress of balancing, at least that would be my take at it, I don’t speak for myself, not everybody.
I’m glad they’re focusing less on pumping out lancers and focusing on gameplay balance in current state, but then again, I don’t know if the „reasoning“ for that might just be that the budget might not be as high anymore to afford that lancers production as consistently anymore.
I also presume that the marketing budget is especially lacking mainly because they’re focusing on developing the game, and marketing is extremely expensive (if you want to actually reach a wide audience). They spent their main budget at the start, especially with streamers as well, which didn’t work for long term. We might see more marketing after they are done with what they’ll feel to be a good balance that’ll keep new players actually stay with the game.

Minor changes for 1-2 weeks would just be annoying and create a weird environment. They’re planning to cut down the cards to 200 and do balance adjustments to those that remain, which is great.
Why wouldn’t the game need a major update & refining? Not like what we have now has put the game out there for us and given us a huge playerbase.
Also, it’s either now or never for major updates while it’s still a ”reasonable” playerbase…

Obviously it needs a major update, it won’t sustain as it is, but the order in which they’re doing it is my issue with it. PERSONALLY I’d feel like minor changes overtime for longterm balance into a good consistent balance -> Major update and then focusing on refining that is better than Major update -> minor changes + refining the major update because you’d actually have a proper order of balancing things instead of piling it all into one major update. In current state, if they add anything overpowered or unbalanced (windwalkers blades for example) you’ll be stuck with that for month/s because they’re not adjusting balancing in any way besides for big updates. Then they’ll adjust it, and if they balance it poorly within that update (and make, a skill for example, useless or too strong) you’ll be stuck with that for another month/s.
If the „major“ update brings in players, that’ll be good and all, but wether those players would actually stay based on the stats of balancing is the other question. There’s a reason the game didn’t manage to keep a consistent higher playerbase (and part of it is just the competition in this genre). We still don’t have a lot of info on this „major update“, but wether it’ll do good for the game long term is the question.

Frequent minor balance changes will hurt the game experience more than they’ll help. If things are constantly shifting every week or two, players will never get a stable environment to learn & adapt… especially for more casual players who don’t keep up with patch notes religiously.
Balancing also isn’t just ”change a few numbers” Every balance tweak would need testing, QA, bug fixing, deployment & monitoring feedback from community…
Now with the above in mind, think back to the recent bugs we’ve had… Game crashing for PC and then XBOX, invites not working etc etc.. how long did it take them to fix something that crucial? And what did it signal? Their resources are spread too thin and they cannot spread it out even more on balance changes every week… this is the same team using AI for event backgrounds etc to cut costs.
Also worth noting that Bad Guitar Studio (the team behind FragPunk) is owned by NetEase, a public traded company..
So even if the dev team wanted to do constant small balance updates, they’re still operating under NetEase’s priorities (and pressure). NetEase is focused on profit and not ideal balancing.
If FragPunk isn’t proving it can make money, then it won’t be here for long… I don’t think they’re even close to BE..
They cut funding to Nagoshi studios not long ago too, by the way.
