I'm of the belief that eSports reach is limited by the lack of parties interested in investing into competitive gaming and the marketing reach eSports has as a whole. at the end of the day you're not really gaining new players from these events and the viewerbase that watches these things are the same people that have already invested several hours into it. the goal of marketing is to reach out to new or skeptic players - which FP has a tough time to pull off. But again Netease is not in a scenario where they really need to cater and compete like any other person making a shooter would - like the Spectre Divide devs.

Where I came from people weren't paid to play in tourneys you just got like 1,2,3 ranged till 20 place getting in-game prices (large amount for 1,2,3) and if you strong enough to get it you did if not you failed and most of us were very known within that tourney ranged from like top 1-500s were in there (1000/2000 people were competing for the prices
