With sub pretty much the only thing that matters is doing a perfect cd sequence every 90s. Do less during your in between so you don't risk those cd windows, and as you get more comfortable with the spec you can start learning when to do more during the in between to maximize damage

I also noticed while I've been spamming Eco today I have a habbit of sending my 3rd dance (right after cds) to quickly and have no SecTech and feels big sad

one of the main sources
the two cooldowns that you acutally need to track as sub is Flag and sectech
flag so you have 1.5 dances and 1.3 symbols going into it
so roughly 25 seconds before, stop pressing things
and sectechs so that you arent sending dances and symbols without it

It seems so odd to play a spec where doing your damage, is not doing your damage, IE holding for so long before Flag
my ADHD hands just start pressing stuff lol
However, I've edited my Weakauras based off what you have both said to try fix some of the issues

@lament brook I've set a reminder in my WA pack that triggers with 25secs remaining on Flags CD, this should be correct to allow me to have two charges of dance/symbols?

it should be a more "use brain" thing
so like
if its 25 seconds
and your dance is at 1 charge and 10 seconds remaining till the next one
symbols is at 2 charges and 10 seconds remaining till the next one
then you shouldn't hold right?
because then youre going to cap
but then say youre at 1 charge and 50 second remaining but symbols is at 2 charges 10 seconds
maybe you send a naked symbols + sectech
that being said
if you really want to turn off brain
just copy cd timers from lorgs
even though it seems like sub has a lot of rng and cooldown maintenance
you roughly spend 2 dances inbetween flags

so if you look at this right
there's the 2 dances sent in flag
then there are 2 dances sent after flag at round 30 seconds and then another at 45 or 1min
then its just hold until 1.5
repeat again you see the 2 dances sent at flag at 1:30
then another 1-2 dances until 3minutes

don't worry about capping on symbols charges and sending a naked symbols sectech
youre going to lose more having a bad flag window
than you are going to gain from getting the additional damage + some cdr from that symbols sectech

I used to use it for Princess and Brood prog when I was healing

cdr generally aligns between people
there's some minor variance when you have to full send really tight cds on araz
but you kinda start getting a feel for what that variance is
and if its going to fuck you or not
with sub you kinda just
learn the muscle memory of how to do your flag burst
once youve learnt that youre pretty set
because your dance is always the same
dance -> backstab -> symbols +sectech -> ss and evis spam
and then again you'll find cooldowns come up at the same time
so just afk between cooldowns
accept the downtime
sub is a downtime spec
where you can take your hands off the keyboard
give them a stretch
rotate your wrists
and get ready for the next burst

I use the same binds on every character so I always know where the "big cds" "defensives" "movement" etc is
So I have R, Shift R, T, Shift T has my big CDs
But then my finishes are Shift 1/2/3/4
Maybe Sectech needs to not be shift 4 🤦♂️

i say that as an idiot who bound flag to Shift V and sectech as V

I was using one for SS/BS but I removed that one. Think its from shadowlands as it still had gloomblade in it too

just pick one one that makes sense
and check what they cast when
anything is better than what youve done

so araz for example
if you are progging and youre not skipping intermission 2
you should pick a log that has a 7min kill
rather than the 5.5 minute kill logs

if you want to free yourself from eco, champion pvp trinket is easily gotten in like 2hrs and is only marginally worse than heroic lily
