#Tarinare log review

Yeah Terros was before my friend reviewed my whole opener sequence
Ahh
You also had a big gap in uptime after that rupture
I'd pull up the opener from the pins and either keep it open on your 2nd monitor or make a static WA that just shows the order to press your buttons
Few things on the kurog kill:
Your casts are a bit off vanish 3 times in 8 minutes, etc.
And you’ve a bit of waste on your combo points
Need to get that to muscle memory
so I notice this with a lot of players, especially when they're playing a spec that they're new at or not comfortable on
where you start slappin buttons and whatever goes off goes off
I have anxiety, sadly not new to assa
ty
It's a lot of buttons compared to what it was
the sin opener is a lot more complicated than it used to be
but it's always gonna be the same with your build
I miss vendetta
so think of it like learning to play a song on the piano or some other instrument
just get the muscle memory down
Yeah I see you using random fok or kicks
so those first 10 globals or so are just second nature
In some logs
what about builds with no bone spike, do I just mutilate?
bone spike is very strong, i wouldn't recommend dropping it
kicks are my fault - if they're on like Terros I mispressed. I have kick right next to mutilate.
Yeah makes perfect sense
but I tihnk you'd benefit more from philosophical changes in how you play and not hyper fixate on specific rotational mistakes
Keep in mind
For what it's worth I repositioned a lot of my keybinds this expac due to how many buttons we gained
To make that opener easier to press
Yeah several builds on subcreation remove bone spike so I'm a bit confused there
Probably IC builds?
the days of spamming a key to catch the instant the next global is available are kind of gone. you don't want to be sitting around doing nothing but you don't need to freak out about what to press next
For m+
I'll check my builds
once your opener is kind of burned into your fingers, the class starts to follow a lot of the same patterns throughout a fight
Idk I think his opening is so off that it's representative of a root misunderstanding of a lot of the spells
Like deathmark with no rupture up
@alpine jasper do you have a picture of your UI?
no worries i just suspect there's probably some improvements that could help
but i'm just guessing
so like on the terros log
when I look at your casts vs what's going on in the fight
it seems like you're not really comfortable with what's going on outside of your rotation
like that 6 seconds of downtime in the opener lines up with that first soak and pillar spawn
and the replay looks like you're kinda freakin out when that happens
it's hard to play your rotation perfectly when you're not really comforabtle with the flow of the fight
Second that
What helped me was using the weak aura that turns bigwigs into a timeline
I put it right next to my abilities weakaura
been using that since BoD
love the timeline
I only use the general WA for the raid
but basically you should know what's coming up next way before your raid lead is calling out a mechanic
that's what sets good players apart from the average imo
Yup you need to have a plan
Don't have bigwigs - and I'm the assist, so I generally call them out
oh calling fights from melee is miserable
You're gonna get taxed hard if you're calling
you're always gonna play bad
Makes a lot of sense
Sorry @alpine jasper long ask because work is miserable sometimes.
One thing I’d recommend is changing to the basic DTB build instead of timing Exsang
I took a 20-30% performance hit when I called fights in Castle Nathria
on every fight
Doesn't mean you can't improve its just going to be harder
he didn't play exang on his recent terros kill, but I agree that dropping exang is good
even if it was a minor dps loss, simplifying down the buttons for now will help
I was looking at the kurog kill
I have different builds for different bosses, but I'm making it a bit too complicated for myself I guess
Sometimes the best thing to do is KISS (keep it simple, stupid!) especially while learning
Where can I find it?
I don't change my assas build in raid. just play outlaw on council and keep everthing else pure ST for now
In the sim I linked or let me get the code rq
BMQAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAINRSCSClEAAAAAAAJBQiAAAAAAAIBp5AlkQSSSaJJikgQIWQA
ty
so this is that terros kill i was talkin about earlier. looks pretty okay right now but you can see rock blast is just starting to get cast
But also calling while playing rogue is difficult, I’ve played for a bit and calling still fucks with me.
I can’t say I’d recommend doing it.
Luckily I very lightly have to do it this tier
by the end of the cast it looks like you're running out to the right but turning away from the boss. this lines up with those 6 seconds of downtime
I have been called out - I'm a mouse mover.
so just generally, i'd make sure you have DBM or BigWigs installed and get the fight timers so you know what's coming next and can plan your movement around it
Wanna know a secret? I am too
mouse moving is fine
I mix mouse moving with strafing
but your back was to the boss for about 2 seconds
I have both DBM and the weakaura for tactics
I raid called in nathria on spriest and I really struggled until I started customizing bigwigs on a per fight basis
It's like taking notes in school
Once you fiddle with it yourself you commit it to memory a lot better
Aw man school was hell
but overall, i'd go smack a target dummy just doing your opener over and over
until it's burned into your brain
so you don't ever have to think about it
So the one from the picture
Yep that will help a lot
that gets you to a good starting point
I would use this one
with the no exang DTB build
fewest buttons will benefit you especially if you're calling fights
and it's basically the same dps as the other builds anywyas
If it makes you feel any better, I played Holy on sun king again in nathria, and I literally had my hotkeys written out in an ERT note
Because I had no muscle memory for the opener
You can't function if it's not 2nd nature
I've been playing assa since BfA and I still suck at it 😄
So what kind of things do you struggle with during the fight
that you're already aware of?
like are you dropping bleeds, using finishers at low combo points, don't know what to press
I use hekili (I know, gross) so pressing is not really an issue - I guess I don't know what to rely on, back when I first started as a rogue I was sub and the rotation was sinister strike -> eviscerate...
Simplifying it, of course.
I think hekili is only good for people that have never touched a spec before and need some general guidance on wtf is going on
it will only hold you back from improving after that
I think I still need the wtf is going on part
I'm generally bad at paying attention to what is happenning
the issue with hekili is that your brain is only going "button light up, i press button"
I removed all CDs from it etc.
Agree with shmeeps
If you know that death mark doubles your bleeds
You're gonna be more likely to set up rupture before y9u send it
Understanding the interactions might help as you practice
I do know that ._.
when really it should be "opener is finished, going to be just mutilating/ambushing and envenoming for a few seconds. after my next envenom I probably need to refresh rupture, then garrote after. maybe i can squeeze in a mutilate before garrote pandemic. bone spike and shiv are going to cap in about 10 seconds but there's some heavy movement coming up so I'll use those both soon so i don't need to worry about them when that mechanic comes"
Ahh well then I think it just comes back to the practice thing
and i'm sure that's overwhelming as fuck
but basically once you take the hekili training wheels off, your brain will start to adjust to that kind of thinking automatically
If I fully focus on what I have to press when, I'll completely forget to focus on mechanics, for instance.
yeah i mean for a while you're gonna pick one and mess up the other
that's SUPER normal
But yeah that's why we keep coming back to forcing the opener into memory
i'm sure you've seen 1000 arcane mages eath a raszegath beam to the face
So you can have less mental stack for mechanics
I've been playing for 12 years though, I shouldn't suck this bad.
because they're min maxing their opener
well practice makes permeneant
so if you've only been practicing wrong, you're not gonna improve
outlaw
IC/CT for me
outlaw will do pretty good AoE whether you play it good or bad
IC/CT is just more cognative load that I don't htink will help you much while you're working on your ST rotation
I do have IC in my aoe build but idk what the rest of that build is supposed to look like
Honestly sin aoe isnt that bad. Better to master 1 spec than 2 imo if youre overloaded
tbh i wouldn't worry about AoE until you bolt down your ST
Agree with shmeeps again
becasuse a lot of the assas AoE relies on the single target rotation
I still run M+ and Council, though. And getting swords for Outlaw would be such a pain
or similar principles at least
well i just mean don't worry about improving it all at once
just do what you're doin on AoE
and focus on practicing ST
until it's really comfy
then work on improving AoE
Alright, maybe I'm overdoing it a bit
yeah, big fan of baby steps
Yeah breaking it down to one thing at a time will help
Thank you my fellow hidey fellows
ripping the hekili bandaid off will do you the most good
I love rogue discord. Yall are good peeps and giving great advice
but will also feel the worst in the short term
I wish I didn't have to rely on it
Just go sit at a target dummy for a few sessions at a time
Whatever you can focus on
thank you

I could hop into a normal raid and explain my thought process during the fight if you want. don't know how helpful it'll be but will at least give you an idea of the kind of stuff to look out for
kinda don't wanna do day 1 spiteful keys... gotta give people a couple of days to remember to not get smacked by adds
That would be awesome, my partner is sleeping and it's 0:38 am though
oh yeah EU hours
Is crossplay between EU and US even possible?
oh wow that sucks
Not sure though
You can't play crossrealm to the other regions at least
Except NA plays with OCE and SA
no I was just gonna stream it
This is my UI if it's still relevant
I'm a pretty big fan of having your unit frames in the center for self and target
and using a weak aura pack for spells make s for some better trackign and visibility
especially with bleeds
ignore the peepos
yeah lol the juice box is crimson vial, the turtle is evasion, the one with the blankie is cloak
