It's more an issue that default elvui settings are just bad for performance and you gotta tweak them a lot
Also for 99.9% of people blizzards profiler is completely Garbo since it can't track libraries which some add-ons use.
So for instances Unitframes add-ons use oUF framework (library) but the profiler shows then 0 CPU usage which is obviously wrong
So best way to test as an enduser is to track fps and frame time with different add-ons in the same scenario

yeah your right, i just know from my personal experience that its been a huge fps gain full swapping over to ellesmeres addon over elvui + the 9 other addons i had. i think i have less then 10 addons in total now because of him, its been a significant difference now on my pc and game experience when playing now.

there is a wide range of item combinations which sim very similar, i use the best simming combination of gear for single target i know of on the wowhead list, but you can change multiple pieces with low diffrence in output.
More mastery would also optimize for multi target fights, which is something that can be done.
The diffrence in general is low, and the best way to gear is to invest in mastery/crit once you hit the haste breakpoints. (can use simulations to support your decisions)

Also important to note why you're actually doing this: it's when you do second dance in blades with 8 sec left on blades, you want to do second sectec ASAP in blades/dance. This is possible with on use haste, which is why guidon is amazing for us.
