It's RNG. The odds of getting the ring each run are the same. The odds of not getting a ring after 40, 60, 100 runs are getting smaller and smaller. but they'll never reach 0.

Your frustration stems from the fact that you, subconsciously maybe, expect the ring more each run you do, so the frustration increases. :p

In both cases the game is just designed to keep me from getting access to this upgrade. A lot of people just say "oh yeah but you could just grind it out", and while technically true, that doesnt mean you will get it. It's not a guarantee.

Especially if youre just pugging it and consistently running it with people who also still need the item. It'd be a bit different if you ran with the same group of people and kept going until all of you got it. That way you'd at least know that once someone loots it, your odds of getting it go up.

I'm no professional theorycrafter, but that's a lot of holding. I would say send them on CD, unless you end up holding one due to some raid mechanic. Then it could be worth it to hold just a little longer if that will sync them. And the last one you can sync if you know the boss will die before you would get another use out of them anyway.
