theres no good uses for it. you can get decent value due to trash on some fights, i.e. before soulrender you kill a bunch of humanoids and a beast, so you get the 2% agi as well as the mastery

also keep in mind that kevin stays if you swap soulbinds, so you can build a good kevin on trash by equipping deathspike and ramping up his timer, and then swapping to heirmir with full ST setup when you pull the boss :>

but yeah to me personally, i just felt like deathspike was giga uncomfortable to play, and id often end up with less than 5 spikes when going into a new pull. youd need some WA assistance or id just need to play it more to avoid that from happening. not entirely sure how deathspike operates in dslice, as the sim starts with a 2min fight, and id assume it pumps all spikes into the boss, and starts the next pull with only 1 spike available?

im not familiar with assa sbs dslice apl at this point to know these intricacies that matter a lot

imo the boss fight being at the start makes zoldyck quite a bit worse as well. in dungeons it literally doesnt matter if you drop zoldyck on a trashpull before a boss, cuz you just get it during execute with vanish+subt which is pretty nice

it has more flexibility, basically

seeing DS+DS not far behind or slightly ahead of zoldyck isnt surprising though, ive been thinking about that build for a long time. its mostly the level of awkwardness to play it that made me switch back

Use Inky Black Potion, it removes the "glow" around him so you can actually see the swirls properly. But it's just stacking and then trying to position close to pools to maximise room

Also try and stand ontop of him if it's free, let's you then stand outside the swirl but still in melee range
