There's an argument for both honestly. What does your group have? Are you an aoe damage dealer or are you a single target pumper within your group? If you run fire mage boomkin I'm not entirely sure that sbs will make a noticeable difference because they will still be fucking melting shit every pull before you have time to ramp. So in that case you could get away with running venthyr for more priority damage. But if you want to do as much aoe damage as possible necro could be better

I just swapped to Venthyr myself as it sims the highest on a lot of content. It's also a nice change of pace to NF and you don't completely lose out on a gap-closer like you would with Necrolord. Necrolord is really, really good for 2-5 targets and M+. NF still strong and easily the most versatile one and has the best signature ability.

Door of shadows really isn't as bad as people say it is, especially with the 2 charges or disorient soulbinds. It just requires preemptive action you can't use it reactively
