The aug is an alt so I need to do approx 7 morbillion keys to get all the crests I need
I wanted to try surv but looking at the amount of crests i need to farm makes me instantly log out
Crest farming is easy but its soulrotting work
Cuz you just queue up into keys that are impossible to brick with 4 other people of acceptable competence
Repeat for like 9 hours at minimum

By 0.7 most people who are doing CE easily are already very well into being done or nearly done
And people can just play alts

So playing alts becomes the thing to do
Thats usually like the halfway point for a season
And by that point most people will be playing at least one alt

We did just say why it matters but the tldr is if you plan to push on the alt or to help mythic prog you wanna gear it as quick as possible
You dont need to be crest capped but you will very easily be covered in hero/myth items before you have the crests to fully upgrade them all
So you just gotta put on your farmers hat and start doing keys
If you plan to push on an alt you will get the crests eventually. It's only if you need to get a new character to mythic prog and you still don't need to do crazy things just a bit more

If you are a coordinated group you can make a case for atrophic but numbing usually is better both for casting speed but also trash attack speed

ultimately you're playing an rpg and you can tell blizz wants to keep some element of that
Because realistically the difference is you just give me everything at once and I blast for a few weeks and then quit for the season, or you slow drip gear and I raid log hitting 3hr of keys every week and that’s it
And obviously one of those is better for blizzard
I wish blizzard would just open their own separate tournament realms where you could just blast immediately etc

its proven for literally ove 20 years now: if content doesnt reward gear, people dont interact with it for long if at all
m+ numberss always go down the drain when people are fully geared because turns out "i can just play for fun" is suddenly not the case for like 95% of the players anymore when it doesnt give a tangible reward
"number go up" is how you keep people playing long term

I've come to the conclusion that sub is the best rogue spec up to like +17 ish due to time-to-kill of the packs, and that outlaw/assa are more or less equal above that, with assa having higher prio damage and outlaw having better overall sustain. Curious what other's thoughts are on the topic

The trick is to just not swap when there's a cool buff like the outlaw one

20% is a bit of a stretch it is probably more like 10% on average better than sin obviously dependent on the dungeon

I was just quoting someone who came in earlier and said he saw OL at 230k vs sin at 190k overall on his stream, but yeah, for the average player who just plays whatever, the discrepancy probably not that wide

Well I guess outlaw was rising pretty hard the past two weeks, but Blizz pulled the rug before they were able to get on top of the mountain
the tuning changes are def wonky, dk less than 10% is criminal
my personal theory is that the blizz internal testing server is wildly different than live for some reason

oh, sry for my confusing comment. I mean they cut off multi-target energy and energy pack from adds death (25 base line now).
It is not a bad outcome tho, even they made significant reduction on multi-taget energy system. However, on 2-3 target or small adds fight, Sin now shares the low efficiency problem with outlaw and sub in a certain perspective.

i just hit 3400 last night as solo pug player, as assa. Bonus rolled outlaw weap to get into it, as it was my least played spec this expansion

somehow, outlaw gets bigger nerf than Augvoker
They got buffed 16% and now lost 6%. So they are stronger than before cloud cover change

yeah, but its not reliable for solo players to be in one
Rogue's major pain point in keys is that we bring very weak buff and utility not that strong
Only way damage tuning fixes that is if we out damage any other spec

if it wasn't for feint, we are done
That is exactly why we have feint
Feint with elusiveness has got to be the single best defensive in the game

There's an argument that we are squishy in raid because often we paly cheat death over elusiveness
But we have something for just about every single damage mechanic in dungeons because of elusiveness
- cloak nerfed, DK gets beter one
- Evasion mostly useless outside of a few scenarios
- Smoke bomb removed, DH gets better one
- defensives and cc cost us dmg
idk how you defend that
By us being one of the best defensive classes in the game
but thats not true
Rogue kit is dog, but it still is absurdly durable
we die to so many more things other classes breeze through
especially this expansion, where half the shit in M+ is dots
which we have nothing for
But, much like Zorthas says. It does also require skill to use well
Dying over time to rot/bleeds is not the same as being squishy
Much like how shadow priests aren't good at handling burst damage, but is very good at handling rot damage
Almost as if classes and specs excel in different areas
DK is a walking tank, but again. It is walking and also brings a utility that people tend to breeze over in keys
At a certain point it does become a healer issue. If I can defensive every bit of burst damage the mobs throw out but die to rot damage, that's not on me

I agree that DKs got good defensives. A lot of that is taken from their mobility though

alright question for the hivemind, I'm just now starting to try and push for the season { have been in and out of hospital along other things} im currently 3394 so 6 off from 3400 ive got almost all 16's and 1 17 so far. I've played sub since the start of this expansion and enjoy playing it and having fun, but the more i look at logs and raiderio the more i see sin being played / doing better overall in higher keys. The goal is to push for high 19-20 keys this season just to push myself as a player. Do i start swapping to sin at this point so i have a better chance at pushing in keys or just stay sub since im still raiding. Sidenote i have myth gaze/pbox along with myth guidon and plenty of gear to stat swap and be fine to play either spec at the moment. Thanks all

Assa I prefer, mostly because it's less punishing and prio dmg is just extra viable
It is quite squishy though
And depending on how tanks pull, your dmg might vary more than on outlaw
I'll sadly probably be puggin more then anything, So as long as they are a good tank i should be alright but you just never know with some people. Its good to know that its more squishy though i did play sin all through TWW so it shouldnt be hard for me to pick back up at all.

ofc, but number wise if DM is 40 second to go and I have the kingsbane, what to do in theory?
Imo, if the pac is big enough or you need to make sure the npc dies before a mechanic, I kingsbane and wait the 20s for it to resync. Youll also have times in a fight where you just cant damage anything or forced to do mechanics (M Dragons fear for instance during intermission). Its really subjective to what youre doing in that moment.
