I usually just pop it after the first imp garrote needs to be refreshed or when I’m swapping to adds

There are three options for vanish

Use it shortly after pull to extend the imp garrote from pull

Use it alongside some kind of add set or other phase where it can do more damage

Hold it for the second cooldown set if you won't lose a cast for doing so
