know when you are nearing 80 then use those points to refresh rupture and garrote then itll naturally expire and back to the rotation

I have a question. Is the assassination Spec underpowered or am I having unrealistic expectations ?
I am asking this because I went to do LFRs and other Mythic dungeon bosses and I had the feeling my DPS was low and unfulfilling.

I went and simed for my gear with ILVL 249 as Deathstalker and got like this on Patchwerk 5min fight on Raidbots (no 4-tier set):
30 K naked (no buffs/pots/enchants etc).

Should I also swap from Deathstalker to Fatebound and just look to improve my gear in M+ expecting a powerspike with gear ?

I've not seen anyone talk about it yet but with the importance of the main daggers being higher item level for because it's the one spell damage scales with, wouldn't it be very strong to use a whetstone on our primary dagger and oil on the off hand one or is there something I'm missing with the attack power scaling from whetstone
