Rik Reverb Barrels (and similar spread cleave in raid)

  • Not your problem.
  • Assassination is the worst target swapping spec in the game, and we have no tools available to deal with the situation of priority spread cleave. Caustic can reach sometimes but similar to fire mage, the boss needs to be on top of the adds, causing caustic to often be out of range.
  • If you're truly hellbent on swapping to barrels, hold your nearest darkest night and just slam a darkest night envenom into them and pray. If you're quick enough you can also pool combo points/energy and cast a rupture on a barrel to try and caustic off of them. This still will not do good barrel damage, again, the spec is doomed for it
  • Another possible option would be talenting into Crimson Tempest by untalenting Bone Spike and Doomblade. This CAN TECHNICALLY provide a bit of barrel damage, but the spawns need to be immaculate and any difficult spawns will just result in no barrel damage again.
    With all that, the best advice we have for swapping barrels:
  • Swap to Subtlety.

Does the % parse compares you with all the rogues of your spec? or only the ones of your same ilvl. I don't find any option to filter that, but I'm new to this

Also what i see is when your casting DM make sure your casting 1 shiv before your DM or after doesnt really matter. and then 8 seconds later. i see a lot of times gaps like this

I can't guarantee it happening, but I at least understand the conditions that cause it

it's crit + coinflip rng dependent, and there are some cases in logs that I can't explain (probably multiple bugs layered)

but I can generate the bug and it happens when I expect it to and does** not** happen when I expect it **not **to, if that makes sense

#

can't make it happen 100% but I know beforehand and I watch my deathmark cd go down an extra time

to summarize:

these findings are not 100% accurate, the globals are dependent on a stand-still scenario
the "lucky" coin has travel time and you can make it more lenient with movement.
if your opening rupture + envenom result in 3x heads, or 3x tails, you have to account for it by changing the global order of the opener or using movement tech to replicate the bug

  • an edge case sequence with vanish generates 7 edge cases
  • an edge case sequence without vanish generates 6 edge cases
    (in retrospect non-vanish is irrelevant as I am nelf and I'd just alternate vanish-meld on DM windows)

It's most replicable when I start an edge case sequence with only 1x coin flip of either type.
So basically garrote muti rupture = 2x [outcome]
muti envenom = 1x [other outcome]
shiv dm cb kb etc

start: 1/0
dm: 3/2
kb: 5/4
vanish envenom: 7/6 --- generates a lucky coin --- 4p procs

this is the critical point ^
I must squeeze the next envenom within 2 seconds to go to 8/7 and get the second lucky coin from the other type.
so after the vanish envenom, my mutilate + seal fate + [tails flip seal fate] must result in 5 combo points so the next global can be envenom.
if I get the 5 cp and envenom immediately, 4p always procs again at 8/7 coinflips.

so vanish+envenom muti envenom, cannot be muti muti envenom

without vanish it changes slightly:
still start edge case sequence with 1/0 existing flips
edge case sequence ends at 7/6 because you don't have an extra edge case from vanish

envenom: 6/5
envenom: 7/6

Same as before, you have two globals worth of time to flip the second lucky coin
at the end of the sequence, you've burned both cb envenoms and are at 7/6
your next coin flip needs to flip the 6 outcome to 7
cb kb envenom, muti muti envenom, 1 mutilate maximum, 5cp+ envenom
and you rely on that final 5cp+ envenom hitting the lower coin outcome.
so if you have 7 tails and 6 heads, the final envenom must end the tails streak and put you at 7 heads

the reason it's most consistent when starting with only a 1/0 coinflip state is that you keep the two types of coins separated by only one stack the whole time, allowing you to reach 7 on the second coin type only ~2 seconds after the first coin type reaches 7 (one mutilate -> envenom)

in the opener, the only variable is my crit% and seal fate allowing me to get 5cp+ with only one mutilate

on the non-vanish sequence, you need the crit% and seal fate RNG and you need the first normal coinflip after the edge cases to roll the lower of the two coin types

#

I've found logs where people get the bug while starting with >1 coinflip streak and cannot consistently replicate those results

#

usually they just have 3-5 seconds delay on the lucky coin buff applying, like they have a larger window of time to fit in two finishers and double-up the proc

#

there are probably more variables, but the cases outlined above proc consistently as expected on dummy and raid boss testing

maybe a stupid question but i know when og midnight changes notes came out i remember there being something about fatebound tier set changing to just flat reduce KB/DB by 15s/30s. then the more recent changes just show dps increase. is fatebound still going to be a 90s spec in prepatch?
