Some general concepts as to why people play different things:

• 11.2/Season 3: Bleed has gotten stronger through some buffs and the single target damage you get from singular focus is ridiculously good with the tier set. During PTR testing many high end rogues were just playing bleed everywhere.
• Ease of play: Bleed build is simply the easiest to play due to subterfuge/no kingsbane/less need for giant prio targets
• Boss damage: The cleave build is mainly for boss damage (note: not prio, there is no significant difference in prio). Assa single target in keys is pretty bad, and some bosses during season 2 were not possible on high keys otherwise. It remains to be seen what push keys in Season 3 will bring in that regard.
• Specific Dungeons: Rookery as an example is very boss-heavy, especially the last boss, making bleed less ideal. Rookery is not in the rotation in Season 3, and there are a lot of AoE dungeons. Dawnbreaker might be a candidate, but unsure currently.
• Where the damage is: Bleed spreads out its damage and does great overall due to sudden demise and powerful 3-8 target damage. Hybrid is competitve but doesn't pull ahead outside of low target cleave and higher target AoE. Cleave is for single target damage and insanely large aoe because of how much caustic and crimson tempest carry aoe damage. At the end of the day, the builds are extremely similar, but Bleed is looking to simply be the best.

okay well then next issues is image 1, the shiv is too late, you should be covering your deathmark window (this repeats in other deathmarks)

image 2 the shiv should be covering the end of the kingsbane cause you only have 1 shiv, but also your 45 second cooldowns are at 1:00, so they're 15 seconds late (all your other cooldowns will also be late because of it).

Image 3 you then proceed to double-shiv your normal kingsbane, which should only have 1, you cast 2 for deathmark

Image 4 you rupture as your second finisher after kingsbane, which fucks your cold blood stacks, except the grand reveal, in none of these images did you ever cast cold blood. This is either because you played sub before and then swapped specs, which breaks cold blood (gotta relog, it's a fun bug), or your macro broke, or you just don't have it set up

Image 5 we're on deathstalker now, the burst order is deathmark -> shiv -> kingsbane, and there is no reason to vanish, so bit weird there. Should be holding vanish in case you have to move the mark or something.

Image 6 would indicate that you didn't dry shiv in lingering, so that's a bit of an issue, you can get that lined up with the adds on soulbinder for example for a big caustic

Image 7 the big bar on top is darkest night, the green line is a rupture during darkest night, that is simply a no-no. Darkest night is always the highest priority thing you could ever do, you would drop rupture if needed to consume that (you ruptured an add in this case, but just saying in general). This is also the only time where you would go to max combo points, since it explicitly requries a max combo point envenom

Image 8 just another bug, but momentum of despair straight up doesn't work when you get the 2 piece bonus for deathstalker, so should just perma take follow the blood just for a bit of extra fok damage sometimes when you're rupturing an add

and then just final things here it seems like you're overcapping quite a bit of energy at times, not sure why, but you should (and will) run out of energy, it's okay to be bottomed out on energy for the majority of the fight, the only reason you would ever want to sit and just hold energy is a couple seconds before kingsbane, and that's incredibly minor. We already talked about the combo points, that's probably the biggest mistake of them all, and other than that your gear just sucks really bad, back to the m+ mines king I believe in you

There are no "recommended stat levels" or "breakpoint of X stat" or "required" amount of any stats. This is an outdated way to think about stats and simply is not relevant to the spec. If you're looking for a quick recommendation: Agi >> Crit = Mastery >= Haste > VersatilityIt's always more accurate to simulate your own character, as stat procs from trinkets/enchants can often de-value their stat relative to others. Stats are not a rigid construct, their values change constantly in relation to each other depending on your character.

• Signet of the Priory will require you have Mastery as your highest RATING (the actual number, not the %). Having Crit and Mastery close to one another will cause procs from Flask or Seaforium Pacemaker to cause your Signet to give you Crit. This is generally worse and will cause Signet to sim poorly.
• Compared to each other, Deathstalker wants more Mastery/Haste than Fatebound, and Fatebound wants more Crit than Deathstalker
• Always Always ALWAYS sim yourself through Top Gear and Droptimizer for accurate results

It’s to do with the dry shiv

Where you get the mastery buff after Deathmark fades, and then shive a darkest night during that buff for massive dam

In that case, you only have 1 shiv for kingsbane by itself so you use it at the end

I think I'm doing something wrong in M+. Just did a 13 and the other 2 dps (demo and frost) were at ~7.4mil but I was only 6mil. Part of it was new guildies that I haven't ran with for sure, but my caustic was only 6% of my dmg which feels really low. I was trying to keep caustic up and then mostly just FoK/CT. I'm guessing I need to envenom more during aoe than I think?

The most important to remember is the generator rules, clear the witnesses and darkest night optimizations can be effectively ignored as they are not meaningful DPS improvements

Running out of energy in single target is completely normal, intended design of Assassination. As a burst spec our damage is mainly loaded into Deathmark/Shiv and massive Envenoms through stacking multiple nature damage buffs such as Lingering Darkness, Shiv, Darkest Night, Amplifying Poison, and more. This comes with the natural downside of our damage suffering outside of these windows, in part due to the designed lack of energy slowing us down.

Because of this, there is only one minor (0.3%) min-max with energy, which is pooling 3-4 seconds into an upcoming Kingsbane. Ideally this would put you at around 50-60% energy before you enter your Kingsbane, which is more than enough energy alongside thistle tea. Outside of that, spam Envenom and just accept that you will run out of energy. There is nothing you can do to not run out of energy. Playing around Envenom uptime also is not relevant anymore, as Twist the knife allows for two stacks at a time, which reduces wasted uptime dramatically. Without twist the knife, wasting uptime is unavoidable.

Rik Reverb Barrels (and similar spread cleave in raid)

• Not your problem.
• Assassination is the worst target swapping spec in the game, and we have no tools available to deal with the situation of priority spread cleave. Caustic can reach sometimes but similar to fire mage, the boss needs to be on top of the adds, causing caustic to often be out of range.
• If you're truly hellbent on swapping to barrels, hold your nearest darkest night and just slam a darkest night envenom into them and pray. If you're quick enough you can also pool combo points/energy and cast a rupture on a barrel to try and caustic off of them. This still will not do good barrel damage, again, the spec is doomed for it
• Another possible option would be talenting into Crimson Tempest by untalenting Bone Spike and Doomblade. This CAN TECHNICALLY provide a bit of barrel damage, but the spawns need to be immaculate and any difficult spawns will just result in no barrel damage again.
  With all that, the best advice we have for swapping barrels:
• Swap to Subtlety.

Viewing this on phone is ass, but you want to spread garrote on as many targets as possible, you use this as your CP generator until everyone is afflicted, then apply Caustic Spatter (first group pull you did it too late from what I see) and then always use FoK to generate CP, only use Mutilate to refresh Caustic (unless only 1 or 2 targets left)
