Vanish->Ambush during cooldowns with Darkest Night up has two main benefits:

• Getting more mark uptime by reapplying when it's down
• Consuming Darkest Night then puts you from 3 stacks of the mark down to 2 since the mark is already applied

As of September 13th with the Echoing Reprimand Fix, that second part is broken. Blizzard inadvertantly added a bug where you cannot consume mark stacks while darkest night is active. This will hopefully get resolved quickly as it is quite impactful. Until that time, you might want to consider taking improved garrote in your single target build (instead of 1 point of vicious venoms, or instead of improved poison). You do not have to do this, and if you would like to continue to play without improved garrote, you would simply hold onto your vanish in case you drop the mark. Once the bug is fixed you would go back to vanish->ambush.

Running out of energy in single target is completely normal, intended design of Assassination. You want to be playing for the highest uptime on Envenom, and not blindly spamming away all your energy. Rapid Injection, Sanguine Blades, and Vicious Venoms all play into this gameplay.

• No, haste will not make this feel noticeably better.
• 10% haste only contributes to around 2 actions per minute
• You should be playing for envenom uptime in single target

Hey, quick question about Queen Mythic: has anyone run into an issue with cooldown assignments on the first P2 platform? Specifically, I’ve been assigned CDs there, but depending on the intermission push, they don’t come up for the first 15–20 seconds.

How do you handle this?

1. Hold CDs and stick to the assignment.
2. Use them on cooldown (as I see a lot of logs showing) and just have them come up late for the platform.
3. something els completely

We’ve only had about 1.5 nights on the fight, so we’re not fully locked into any strat yet, but this came up last night when we hit P2 for the first time.

Our RL is working off assignments from a RL discord and seems pretty set on sticking to those people for CDs, but I wanted to check if anyone else has dealt with this issue.

Question relating to leveraging Hero Talent Lingering Darkness: as Deathmark is active 16 seconds and Kingsbane 14 seconds, is it more dps to apply kingsbane approx 4 sec after deathmark, so that when deathmark expires and kingsbane is still running for 2 seconds, the 30% nature damage buff buffs the then maxed kingsbane as well - OR, since deathmark will expire before kingsbane maxes out and therefore the duplication of kingsbane falls off too, is it better to sync deathmark and kingbane active times?

Not sure how Duplicated Kingsbane works actually, is it 2 Debuffs on the target or does the one debuff just stack twice as fast? Answer might depend on that. Thx!

Rogues are good at making bad situations more manageable. Iron wire helps with this a lot, especially when paired with vanish. Like someone accidentally pulls an additional pack, or the healer dies or packs live longer than intended.
Higher you get and the more of the pulls are planned in detail , both less likely those situations are and less likely you are to recover even if you blow resources at them. Which is why you see top tier players in good teams make such decisions.
While in groups where it's more unsure if it'll go smooth, you would instead want to play in such a way that you increase your success chance as much as possible.
Everything is a tool, sims, looking at pros etc etc. Use them in order to form your own base of knowledge and adapt to what is more likely to get you to complete the encounter infront of you.

Indiscriminate Carnage Targetting and Swapping
TLDRMouseovers/Target swapping is optimal on 6 target, or 8+ targets, but not necessarily required

• The 2 Bleeds spread by carnage are smart and will prioritize mobs without the bleed. If everything already has bleeds it'll apply randomly
• You as the character are still casting the bleed against your target like normal, this is why people will sometimes use mouseover macros or swap targets

Swapping targets is situationally better, but can be ignored if you're having difficulties with it. Take 5 mob aoe as an example, your first garrote cast will apply to 3 targets (your target + 2 more). Regardless of if you swap or not, your second cast of garrote will hit your target, and then apply 2 more garrotes, prioritizing the mobs that do not have garrote. In very large aoe pulls (12 or more), a standard opener (garrote-garrote-rupture-rupture-garrote-garrote) will only apply 9 garrotes (3+2+2+2) and 5 ruptures (3+2) if you do not swap, losing you 3 garrotes and a rupture.

It is technically worse, but the situations in which you lose bleeds aren't very common; the lost ruptures/garrotes don't contribute much to your already flooded energy, you don't get additional scent of blood stacks, etc. The loss is purely the extra damage from those bleeds.

The reason we do this is to maximize uptimes and use energy more efficiently for Deathstalker marks/cooldowns. Staying under 50% leads to more Envenom casts, which is more Darkest Night Procs. For Fatebound, heads flips contribute damage regardless of if you're flipping or not, so this pressure to keep spending is lessened.
