Single dawn being higher does make sense at the very least on ST, because ascension is better than dawn comparing the embellishments 1:1 below 80% uptime. Should be ascension + banding > ascension + dawn > 2x dawn that way.
For dslice I actually dont know how ascension sims, but the thing with it is that you will realistically drop it multiple times, rarely ever getting full value out of it. Also crit usually is more valuable on MT than vers, but all in all the difference should be rather negligible either way
