Caustic is a debuff on one target that splashes damage onto nearby enemies. So you want to get caustic up on your prio target and use CDs into that target to splash more damage on other mobs

Understanding caustic is the key to absolutely mogging dps meters in keys and sending those palas and shamans crying for buffs

Caustic splatters a portion of your nature damage onto your nearby targets, so here's the catch (an obvious one though), the more nature damage your prio target takes, the more caustic splatters onto your nearby mobs, and hence big damage.

Bleeds are a maintanence buff, you apply them and forget about them, and don't worry about min maxxing it. Even if running scent, applying 2 ruptures out of stealth means 6 stacks. Applying 3-4 garrotes means 9 mobs having empowered garrotes running, which is huge. That's like first 5-6 seconds of a pull.

Now, coming back to caustic, you mutilate once and make sure that for the next 8 seconds, your prio target takes as much nature damage as possible.

1> Deathmark is up because it duplicates everything
2> Kingsbane is up with tea for mastery (more nature damage)
3>Spam FoK into envenoms as much as possible. (More envenoms = More nature damage)
4>Use shiv for the last 8 seconds of kingsbane for more nature damage (this is where kingsbane hits the hardest)
5>Reapply splatter and continue, keeping up the bleeds

Ideally your splatter should be top 2 sources of damage overall, other one being envenom or garrote.

Where people mess up their splatter windows:-

1>De-syncing DM and KB.
2>Applying KB on a mob which will die way before kingsbane runs out (like in 5 seconds or less)
3>Wasting splatter windows to apply bleeds (it should be up before)
4>Forgetting to reapply splatter

2x Dawnthread (wrist/belt) is generally the best in m+ and not far behind of Ascencion/Banding for raids. Equal in single target at 80% uptime

Craft a dagger if you're unlucky and don't get one and are down bad and crying about your pathetic little 580 main hand dagger. Put Ascencion on it
