I don't play rogue, i play a warlock so our experiences can be very different, so i can't say much about what to hold or what to use.

but in my experience, its a mixture of holding and pressing stuff, if you can press it and it will come back back good, if it won't you check first, as some stuff can be very valuable on bosses but not on adds, and some stuff can be very valuable on adds but not on bosses.

Energy amount has very little to do with how useful haste is, because you need an obscene amount of haste to even notice a dent in energy regen

which brings up the value of vers, as well as Signet brand scaling off of vers
