and on the one hand it's great balancing, on the other hand it's kinda hard for people to look at a build or a dslice sim

and actually materialize the dps difference it supposedly has

That's perfectly fine. But that analysis needs to come from understanding what is important to your DPS output, not comparing it to the sim. The sim can help educate you on what your damage distribution should look like, but depending on encounter or gear, that might differ slightly as well.

Ultimately it's about analyzing your own play by delving into the logs, checking uptimes, checking your rotational gameplay, checking CP waste etc. etc.

You could be within variance range of the sim but still misplayed a lot.

The only way to find that out is in the logs.
