Crafting XP in DF is nerfed. They have added DR to XP gains, and you can get a maximum of 700k ish before every new craft gives you 0 XP.

If you want early access to a brez then engineering is still fine, but you'll be stuck wearing it as the helmet until someone on your realm starts making the bracers which are a proc-learn like back in Cata, but anyone in the game can use them since they are not profession locked until the helm

And yeah engineering just has some many QoLs that I couldn't get rid of it on my main ever
