I'll have you know that crit has mainly been our best stat for the entirety of Shadowlands when playing Venthyr - which is the entirety of Shadowlands lol

But yeah they reworked haste to work on bleeds/poisons in BFA, so it's actually a real stat. In Legion and expansions before it, haste was a completely useless stat that did legit nothing for us.

Blizzard doesn’t want poisons to take over bleeds for a couple of reasons. There used to be a time they were very potent but caused some problems. First they are unavoidable, passive dmg; as long as you are on your target. PvP got problematic due to it. Second, it diminishes the value of bleeds; at some point Assassination rogues disregarded Garrote in their rotation completely because poison/envenom dmg were very powerful. It counter plays with the general “maintenance” idea of the spec.

At the time rogues had already started to complain about the rotation felt dry

What I like with the new talent Dragon-Tempered Blades is it acknowledges the importance of poisons in the spec identity, without making poison damage a big thing

Haste/Mastery build was hardly an afk spec, the envenom uptime was like 100%, deadly poison procs forcing instant poison procs. With 1.2 speed daggers, it was the most apm iteration of Assassination. It led to all weapon speed normalization and poison nerfs
