Kinda surprised by the feedback, so I'll breakdown the process -
-Helm feather/color matching shoulder/boot feather lining to some degree
- Harness, Boots and Pants, all red, with Brown/gold spike patterns comin off of it (other than the black that comes with pants)
- For the belt, wanted something blue so it can go with the helm and shoulder glow, it was a pvp vendor item so quick to get.
Wanted to make somethin ridiculous, but maybe it was too ridiculous lol

if youre going for ridiculous you nailed it, but if yo umeant for it to match it doesnt really. head and shoulders ill give you, even boots, but gloves dont match colour wise at all except to the red on chest and legs, but the chest has about 7 pixels in total and the black on legs completely throws it off. plus legs just dont match the more primal look of the other pieces. having head, shoulders and feet one colour type and then mixing it with a much darker red and black for 3 other main pieces just doesnt work

The initial criticism was mainly with the way the screenshot was taken focusing on the nice BFA background and not on the mog. The enchant I think everyone agreed was bad. You have a green gem in the chest and red / metallic bronzish weapons throwing it off. Blood elf was just a meme jab.

You need to change the weapon, belt and pants. The weapons does not match at all with this muted red you got going because of how much gray there is and the red is not the same colour, the belt sticks out because of those red lines and also it's a WWE Belt, that shit takes up so much space it needs it's own zipcode, and the pants look nice but I feel like something could look better but it needing to be change is the least important one

going back and sectioning off dye channels for each individual piece of armor in the game is a monumental amount of time and manpower
it also ruins their current system of different difficulties being differentiated by being a different color
so they would have to make each set get incrementally more baubles and whistles as you increase in difficulty

You are right that the effort to go back and retro fit a color slide on old gear would take time, at least they could start now with future gear. it wouldnt be the first time we get a system that works at first for future stuff and later on gets retro'd for old thing
And while it is true that they use color to denotate that Blue gear means X, Red Gear means Y and Purple Gear means Z, it does not really matter when everyone is running around full setting or using mixed/wacky pieces of gear
Because people will inspect your gear if they care enough to see where it drops from or just look at your ilvl and just keep it moving
And having to make each version look crazy then the last difficulty is what they've been doing for Mythic, peasants get water down versions of the raid gear, and chad big dicks get their HD remasters
But in reality its gonna just come down to time/effort on old gear like you said, and of course it makes sense
