You could choose to not interact with that system at all and transmog will have basically not changed for you (except you wouldn't have to reapply transmog every time you get a new piece)

As far as the boots go, I was kinda struggling to find something that fit the color palette and simpler style at the same time.

On the shoulders, I thought about it, but was going for as much of the tattoos from the monk chestpiece exposed as possible. I also have one of the trading post scarves/shemaghs on the head slot there to break up the neck cord that that chestpiece has.
