it's the "hidden" appearance for the sub artifact. if you don't have that orange one on the left unlocked, you can't unlock the other 3 skins

so once you unlock the hidden appearance (i foget how but there's guides on wowhead for literally all of them) like equip the artifact (gotta swap to sub), go to the forge in the dalaran sewers to confirm you unlocked it (it should auto unlock) and then like relog. it SHOULD appear in your weapons tab

Sorry to say mate but it's not really correct what you are saying (look at the picture). For obtaining artifact appearances you need to have the base weapons (from the quest) unlocked on any of your characters. If you want to earn the hidden/secret artifact appearances you need to obtain the base weapon on ANY of your characters. The base hidden model has to be separately but you can earn the variations of it before getting the base hidden model itself.

*Example; You obtained the hidden artifact appearance from the Dalaran sewers (for assassin) you can now unlock hidden model variations on any characters for any class/spec. *

Loads of people obtain hidden artifact appearances without knowing it plus some hidden artifact appearances are just way easier to obtain then other. So using the trick might be helpful. So if you want to red variation is might be easier to just loot the assasin hidden artifact weapon and that way unlock the subtlety red variation

if thats what you are referring to, xmog the illusion u want on weap that can illusion. Exit mog (npc /close window). Swap to artifact/weap of choice(if artifact search through 1 hand list rather than legion artifact tab) most of the time the illusion currently mogged to weap should show on most if not all weaps wether can illusion mog it or not, mog your new weap without touching illusion.
should keep previous illusion intact.
usually sometime during weapon sheath/combat you will get a 3rd weapon( ive only noticed working on artifacts)
