Not gonna lie I've heard about the problem of feeling weak while leveling and it didn't happen to me, even though my heirlooms stopped scaling at 29

Sure I had like one or two pieces that didn't get replaced until 70 but most of my gear was getting replaced regularly with scaled quest gear

If you do the quests in the order they're meant to be done you usually get new gear pretty often

Maybe it didn't happen to me because while doing chromie time I was explicitly more interested in having a good time than maximizing xp per hour

If I'd been gaining levels at twice the speed with half as much new gear I'd probably have had a shit time too

i mean you can play around it depending on the class, like cloak will get rid of most dots that will 1 shot you as rogue

idk maybe next time i level a new character i'll do it in dragonflight no timewalking queues

I didn't have super strong feelings about df in general but I fell in love with the chromie time system, so much so that when I hit 70 I ended up going back and leveling 8 more characters to 70 before picking one to take to 80

I don't know about that, I was able to fly from the moment I logged in on my dracthyr mage, but didn't fully understand how new flight worked until they introduced the skyriding mechanics in that early df quest

maybe I just got lucky that I picked dracthyr?

and i spoke with a new player in game who had the old flight, but couldnt dragonride until he did dragonflight

From personal experience MMR and win rate wise I am doing better as Sub on my Main. My sub MMR is 2511 where my Assa mmr is 2428. that being said my main started higher mmr. At lower mmr you have to deal with your teamates screwing up your drs where its not as bad higher up I have noticed. Sub I find is really really lethal if your target has no trinket and you have bomb and full burst cds pretty high chance they will die.

At the end of the day Eridian is correct play what you enjoy and are most comfortable with

If you are just starting as Sub now you will probably do better for end of season push as Assa

I’m hoping to hit 1800 here soon with my rogue. Shuffle seems to be the fastest way bc of blitz qs. Just been having bad luck with teammates. I swear it’s like they play like a god vs you then forget keybinds when on your team

Shuffle doesn't seem to have that issue as your ranking is based more on your personal performance rather than the other two players. You can lose rounds and still progress a little, unlike Blitz where you can spiral into several losses.

Less RNG with Shuffle...something I wish I'd figured out sooner...

Until now pvp queues didn't bother me so much.

Today, though, it occurred to me that if you're the sort of person who only cares about pvp (or even if you normally enjoy other content, but you're in a mood where pvp is all you want to play that day) then queue times are functionally an arbitrary limitation on your playtime, like the energy system from a terrible krpg.

Suddenly the very idea is maddening.

Why in god's name can't they have an unrated tdm warmup mode that everyone trapped in queue gets dropped into?

A place to farm honor but not conquest or rating, where you can just get some practice beating the tar out of each other

And most importantly have a less structured pvp activity to reliably participate in while waiting for queues to pop

Yes warmode exists, but that's not pvp. It's pve where sometimes you get jumped by somebody you didn't see coming and have no chance in hell of beating.

Not sure it's something that's easy to fix. Rewards aren't good enough to encourage more of the player base to take part and meddle with the format too much and you risk annoying those that enjoy things as they are.

I suppose the warmup mode could be something that players could opt out of.

It's just that pvp is quarantined from the rest of the game quite effectively, and queue times are a significant part of that.

You have to really want to pvp to even begin to get into it, knowing that you'll spend hours in queue just to play potentially dozens of unwinnable games before you finally have the gear to compete, followed by hours more in queues to play more games that you lose because you don't know what to do.

If you could just drop in and out of a flexible deathmatch format with honor gains, it would accelerate the journey for brand-new players to go from pve gear to pvp greens.

Once you had those pvp greens, it'd give you functionally infinite more opportunity to practice how to play the pvp side of the game.

My biggest issue with the current format is that in order to be competitive you need full gear, but then once you've got full gear the need to PvP is kind of pointless. It's just ePeen points after that. Once I've got the elite set done I can't be bothered any more. It's pointless.

WoW is still missing that addictive "just one more round" format that stuff like Overwatch has (different genre, sure, but you get my point). WoW PvP is kind of pointless.

It's understandable for some people to feel that way, but not everyone needs something clearly-defined to work towards to want to play a game a certain way

Alliance players are so starved for pvp that they go around hunting people who have no interest in fighting them, just because they want to kill other players that badly

There's no practical reason to do that, warmode players are worth practically nothing

I lose all interest once I hit 1800. I have the same issue with M+. Chasing a higher number doesn't interest me - rewards do.

The gameplay loop isn't enjoyable enough for me to push past the point when the big rewards stop.

I play pvp because I like to pvp, but I can't deny I would enjoy it more with more carrots on the stick.

The issue isn’t lack of players it’s lack of healers

If I que as a healer my que is instant pop or pops in 1 minute where it’s a 30 minute wait if I played a dps in that same bracket

Issue is that in pve at least keys it’s 3 dps per 1 heal and in shuff u got a ratio of 2 dps per 1 heal

In keys u get 30-50 dps sign ups before u find a healer, the amount of dps players vs tank+ heal is very offset in all content in the game

the only thing haste does for us really is faster energy regen and it speeds up DoT ticks

DoT durations remain a fixed amount of seconds, so when you speed up ticks with haste, you also gain extra ticks
