i've only played assa before the hemotoxin nerf so I was mostly running hemo+sprint+disarm/bomb but I felt like I wasn't getting a lot of value out of bomb (due to my misusage maybe)
problem is the things control gives you aren't really that great, for sub you got premed, for assa you got cut to the chase, for outlaw you're probably resigned to the fact that you'll have to manage snd (also grand melee if you're unlucky)

That's probably the main downside of DF talents imo. There're many situational spells placed on the talent tree, that used to be baseline (like tricks, shackle undead for priest and others). They have some niche uses but aren't worth the talent points most of the time.
