It’s very comparable to wow

Where like, classic wasn’t necessary “hard” but it was very janky

And there was a lot of weird things and places and side quests you had to do for random junk

Modern is a lot more streamlined, and it actually went through a bit of a midnight class-design revamp of its own

So now all the classes are either 1 min/2 min cds, they removed a lot of ugly min max stuff

Some classes didn’t have a dash ability, so they got one

Kind of homogenizing

But Maplestory classes are inherently so different that homogenizing is fine

as long as it does not take away from classes identity and playstyle too much, sounds fine

On one end of the spectrum you have like street fighter combo classes where you have to animation cancel like 2/3rds of your skills to stop your movement or like a rocket-arm blaster class where you have to constantly weave in a bunch of off-GCD buttons to get bullets back cause if you don’t have bullets you need to afk for like 2 seconds and reload

But then there’s also bowmaster where you press your cd macro, pop all your damage

And then just key down one button

And of course everything in between, stance classes and resource bars and summoner classes

There’s a class that basically just orianna from league where you push a ball around

So the identity and difficult stuff is all still there, but they made everything smoother to play

There’s no baseline gcd in the game, it’s all action/animation delay, so they reduced the delay by like 20% for a lot of classes

Just nice QoL stuff
