Hey y’all! This is my first post here, and I wanted to share a project I made for my alumni team, 3674, the CloverBots. It’s been in the works for the past few months, and I’m excited to finally share it with the community.

The mod is largely based on the 2024 version of the game and adds local multiplayer to the builder environment. For more details, check out the development logs on the itch page.

I would like to note that, while builder is open source and you're welcome to continue this like you are now, we also have an official program called the "super modder" program with applications on our website for people who want to either assist with core builder or base game development, or if they want to have access to the MoSim source to work on supporting projects/non-robot mods/features

I considered doing that, but I just didn’t want any “pressure” to actually do something. This was purely for my personal development and for the enjoyment of others.

makes total sense, our policy with the program is basically as long as you at least put some time into it every 2-3 weeks at least it's fine, but I know from experience locking yourself into a volunteer-type project long term isn't for everyone

Wasn’t planning on it. I’ve recommended to others with non windows machines to use VMs, and those have worked.

I’m no longer working on this project at this time. I’m considering some improvements over this summer, but nothing’s final. I’ve changed the shooting to be more accurate from range, but the first couple shots are still inaccurate.

weird question but how easy would it be to import our robot cad to replace yours while keeping the original script since our robot is almost exactly the same execpt for a flipped shooter

Wouldn’t be too difficult if you already have it in normal builder. I added in other people’s builder bots rather easily. Otherwise, it’s just an addition onto normal builder and is simple enough to add on to.

You can by importing your own robots Unity Package in the repository, although I would advise against it as I did not document all the changes between my version and the builder base. It is possible though.

If you put the robot in Resources/Robots and then also added an image with the same name under Resources/RobotPreviews, then it should work. Like I said previously, I didn’t document the process at all and don’t know all the niche things that will come up.

I made a quick attempt at this, didn't go too well. The main part that would need changing is the Build Node script. My idea was to run a coroutine for every new trigger for shooting, but that didn't work as it applied to each game piece individually. Anything to do with the Piece System in Builder is fair game to change to make this work.

I'm working on some minor changes suggested by friends. Will likely be releasing those as well as adding the new robots within the coming weeks (Estimating 1-2 weeks, but still have five weeks of college so no guarantees).

I'll be continuing to add robots as people make them in builder (with releases every two weeks or so). For bots not made, I'll require a technical binder for reference (and also want it to be different than already made robots, no more dumpers or dye rotors for me).

The balls don’t follow a perfect ballistic arc so when they come back down they slow down and start colliding which breaks the stream up behind it. You can kinda see it happen

In theory changing to an interp based hood instead of continuous hood calculation so you can just yeet the balls harder should fix it

On the hood there is a interpolation script and it will likely be in the simple mode without an interpolation map. If it is its just pointing to a point in the world with offsets where as interp you can do whatever you want for angle based on distance

okay, so my friend and i hit a 2182 playing double madtown with parsec an hour and a half ago, and we took a break and played mosim rebuilt and reefscape for a bit

just watched this run from @idle loom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDGN1to6b2c and i did a very rough count by syncing my clicks in a click counter to the bps of the robot and i counted roughly 890 balls shot

Here we go with teh WORLD CHAMPION, 4414 Hightide comes to Closim x MoSim builder, very good and clean bot overall great bump, trench traversing inaking, shuffling and shooting are also clean. Overall a world class bot.

I did the title that way since CloSim is basically builder multiplayer

Please due note that the score is not good (I know). ...

The prefab works, but the custom robot meshes were missing in the game asset I downloaded. You need to include any .fbx file that you imported for it to work.

I got this error when importing moto moto into closim builder:

Assets/Scripts/BuilderLib/GamePiece.cs(20,30): error CS0246: The type or namespace name 'AllianceColor' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

does anyone know what the problem is?

CloSim V2.1 (assuming you’re using that version) modifies several of the scripts that the moto moto game asset comes with. This breaks (guessing from the error) the penalty system and my version of managing field zones. To fix, you have to not import the scripts that come with moto moto, but then you must modify the prefab to be “CloSim compatible”. I’ll be working to add it over the weekend, so I don’t know exactly what that will involve.

But the short answer is: CloSim is no longer easily compatible with Builder bots and requires some time to import new bots to the system.
