I Just finished a stream of Cristol : Theater of Idols, Now I want by saying the atmosphere, Enemies, and Weapon effects were really Creepy and Disturbing. Which is great, But I feel the gameplay, Story, and mechanics made no sense. I wanna start by pointing out that the Intro made it difficult to understand what was happening, Gabriel starts by mentioning "Where would those mermaids be hiding" , As a player I don't know what he means by mermaids? The town doesn't show any signs besides posters and a jellyfish sigh that its a harbor town or sea town. So for him to say mermaid seemed out of the blue and unrelated. Then when finding the shotgun. You are instantly startled by the a memory of the past, There is no tool tip or Introductions of what that was or why I can see the past. Then when getting the shotgun, I transform it. How does Gabriel do this? Is his blood special, Is it his faith that lets him do this? We don't know. So the story telling and lack of info or player tips leaves players confused and disoriented. Finally gameplay wise, The fact there is no button for vaulting lead to an instance where I was hiding from Dolores and when I peaked from a vault. My character auto vaulted and the enemy came running back to attack me. I feel that is a big over sight, There should be a manual vault button to prevent issues of accidently vaulting into rooms with enemies or vaulting out of hiding and getting attack. If the developers have an questions or would like to see the Clips or Stream for themselves to see what I mean, Please DM me and I can send the links.

Thanks for the feedback. All of your concerns about the story will be addressed in the final game. It's very hard to relay a full narrative in a short demo.

I thought I might add my feedback here rather than having multiple threads for the same thing crunchysloves

I loved the demo a lot and the biggest thing that impressed me (beyond just how GOOD the game looks) was the accessibility options y'all have built in right from the get go. It's the first thing I look at with every single game I pick up before I click on New Game and I truly appreciate that you seem to have made it a focus BlumhouseCandyHeart

The problem for me is that I struggle with motion sickness crypuddle I loved that you included the fixed point in the middle of the screen to aid with that but due to the always on-screen presence of the gun, which is swaying around as you move, it kinda counteracted the reticle and by the time I finished the demo I was not feeling too well rip Motion sickness triggers are so different from person to person so I understand and appreciate that it's near impossible to accommodate for! I just wanted to give that bit of feedback though.

I didn't really experience the story issues Weaveren mentioned because for me, it was a slice of the game taken from the middle so I assumed what I didn't know was covered before and after that piece, but I can see how it might be frustrating! It definitely made me keen to want to know more though. I was a bit worried when I died 2 minutes in because I didn't quite realise I had to HOLD the button to reload rather than press, but that could very well be user error talkin12LOL
