As title says. If I buy all the items from the lizard smoothie merchant, kill him, then change zones & come back. He will be alive again with new items to buy.

The same way you kill through invulnerability phases on the guardians of impermanence (Immolation + Ricochet). Ricochet is bouncing a 'Self' damage type.
It may also be possible with essence of pain but I haven't tested.

would you say that you discovered this, or did you see my video about it and report it as a bug and not a feature?

I didn't see your video, but I did see in general chat that it was mentioned you could kill them.
I dont claim that I discovered how to kill through ontological shields and I also did not report that as a bug. I reported that the merchant items reset if you do this, which I am not sure if they are meant to (they fixed it in the live version, while in the demo with normal merchants the shops also did this. Because of this, I assumed you weren't intended to be able to reset merchant items).
