Just beg people for some rods and they’ll spit some out, also the megladon is not that hard to open. There is literally a sign that tells you what you need to open it and that item is really easy to get in fishing. And catching fish is only hard in some occasions, most of the time the fish barely moves out of the box in the mini game letting you catch it with ease.

About the clam hookshot, I get that there is no big reskin logo, but it is literally called the clam hookshot. It is still a hookshot. What did you expect it to do, teleport you or stick to everything? It is just a themed version. The name alone should make that obvious.

And the dead fish part is not even hidden. When you are at the mouth of the megalodon it literally says catch a dead fish. It does not say kill a fish. It says catch a dead fish. That is not the game being unclear, that is you overcomplicating it.

You can say you do not enjoy fishing. That is fair. But saying the dev does not understand game design because you got frustrated is a stretch. The update just came out. If there are balance issues or bugs they will probably fix them. That is how updates work.

You might just be approaching the update differently. Some parts are meant to take time, require exploring, or even asking other players. That is kind of the point of an adventure game. It is not always supposed to hand you the answer instantly or let you unlock everything in two seconds. Sometimes you have to experiment and actually look around.

If you get stuck, that is what public lobbies are for. You can join a no PVP server and ask people what to do. It is a multiplayer game for a reason. Adventures are meant to involve cooperation. I usually go into new updates with a friend because two brains figure things out faster than one, and that is part of what makes it fun.

With the megalodon, there is water right in front of it and fishing there gives you a dead fish every time. The signs are placed in that area too, so the game is clearly guiding you toward that solution. It is not some hidden or unfair mechanic.

If you do not enjoy fishing, that is completely fine. That is your opinion. But not liking a mechanic does not automatically mean the whole update is bad or that the developer does not understand game design.

And honestly, it is not your fault, it is not the game’s fault, it is not the developer’s fault, and it is not anyone else’s fault if something takes a bit to figure out. Sometimes you just miss something. That happens to everyone. Getting frustrated is normal, but blaming the entire update because of that is a bit much.

We can disagree without insulting each other. It is just an update.

My honest thoughts on this update are mixed...

The whole fishing system and the rod cooldoown feels somewhat absurd. I can agree with some older messages in this post about there being too many maps.

My thoughts on the new maps?
I enjoy the Megalodon map. I just wish there was more to to and get from there instead of it being a place where you get 2 or 3 things and never go back.

The only reason you would go back to Megalodon is to get to the Lake, which also feels pointless other than it being a fishing spot for better fish since the other areas are terrible without bait.

My final argument before i leave this post to rot. This update has the same thing as the majority do. Collect and sell. The fishing update just adds a new damn map and a fishing mechanic to waste good potential. The updates either add something useless or literally the same thing but reskinned. In the end, the updates are uninteresting not just in my opinion but the majority. Ever wonder why people sit at spawn? Because the updates aren't fun. They are left to rot because nothing new or interesting is being added. Thats why players are trading all the time. Nobody will care about fishing in a months time. This game's only life line is its weekly updates. That is why players come back every time. Should updates take longer, players would leave because again, the game isnt fun.

Yes, many updates in this game follow a collect and sell loop. That is literally the core gameplay. Fishing did not replace the game, it added an optional mechanic on top of it. You might see that as wasted potential, others see it as extra content. Both takes can exist.

Saying the majority finds updates uninteresting is an assumption. Some people sit at spawn because they like trading, socializing, or just chilling. That does not automatically mean the updates are bad. Trading itself is part of the game loop, not proof that content is failing.

Also, not every feature is meant to stay relevant forever. Some updates add long term systems, others add short term variety. Fishing does not need to be the most important thing in the game for months to be considered valid content.

And yes, weekly updates keep players coming back, but that does not mean the game would instantly die if updates slowed down. That is speculation. Plenty of players come back for friends, progression, or just because they enjoy the core game.

At the end of the day, you do not enjoy the update. That is fine. But calling it objectively bad, uninteresting, or useless for everyone because you personally do not like it is a sketch.

let me make it more clear: every time you sell something, there’s a counterbalance that will check how much fish you sold/bones you have when selling. if it arises too much, then it sets a cooldown, for when you can add fish again.

Firstly, being mad or feeling annoyed over fishing in an adventure game seems very weird and wrong. At the end of the day, everyone has their preferences. I personally believe that fishing is awesome, but I can agree that it is pretty unbalanced, though.

Secondly, you mentioned Reactor and Mountains getting abandoned, which isn't true; they are maps made for exploring and adventuring. I'm not saying that they won't get updated, but the chance that they do will most likely be low. The whole point of Animal Company is to go on an adventure or adventures, e.g, Mines, Haunted Mansion, Lake, Reactor, Office, etc. All these maps have a way out and are finished. I will say I would like to see more content in some of these maps, like Forest and Haunted Mansion.

The update has no benefits to the player it would make more sense if you could get research points or cc via fishing it would also make more sense to unlock items thru quests like making it thru the megaladon map

Also I find it very crummy that if you complete a quest like the demon sword quest you don’t unlock it you just get the item

And the game isn’t rewarding at all if you defeat the lava ogre you get prized with a crappy skull flamethrower that you don’t even unlock
