I think it’s mainly animal company devs having a different having a different mindset then players. Can we talk about how the games current identity was forged through modders and game breaking glitches that allowed people to infinitely multiply any item?

It kind of pisses me off how we got to the point where going back to the old lethal company style of the game would almost certainly nosedive the games income because of how spoiled every player is.

I remember when the infinite money glitch was brought up as a severe issue and after office released the devs started actively making updates that require HORRENDOUS amounts of money when they could’ve just introduced nut wipes then and there.

I don’t think it would’ve been as much of a problem as it is now. But making Nut wipes now would most DEFINITELY make the game loose at least HALF of its players.

All this seems silly to me? I don’t even remember how we got to this point? Ever since the goop update (which has been the most expensive update nut wise since release) every single update has not required or used nuts as a must have recourse at all?

I mean the fishing update made its own currency entirely. The digging update just requires you to beat the boss once and then you have the BEST digging AND mining item in the game (which you can use for whatever) but the objective of the map is to reach the old moon map which is just a small little car arena where you can mess around with a car.

Nuts are becoming more irrelevant as we go and are much less of a grindy recourse then it ever was.

Idk maybe I’m just nostalgic on the old version of the game but I really don’t view nuts as a recourse to be gathered anymore.

I thought it might be one of the first good maps ever since the reactor update that isn't a 2 minute long map if you speedrun it but it's just a 10 minute long map with obstacles so you can get to the moon and get some stupid rocks. It had the power to be a game changing update with voxel mechanics but they instead made it a way of remaking the moon because they are lazy and can't afford to make anything entirely new

The core mechanics of animal company (at launch) can be boiled down to the same as lethals mechanics that being:

“find loot, grab loot, survive enemies with loot, get to surface level, sell loot, buy items for the next run, repeat”

Where as now AC’s core mechanics are based off of mining and PvP and ““crafting”” and so many mechanics its hard to count them all

So now when an update comes out or is teased there are so many mechanics now that its hard to predict what might be next based off of:
is it going to add on to a pre-existing mechanic or an entirely new one

Now im not saying that new updates and mechanics are bad im just saying that adding too many all at once can make it hard for players that are new, for players that have no idea what to do, and for players that haven’t played for a long time (think of a Minecraft veteran not playing for five years then seeing the new mobs and biomes) it can be confusing and annoying to see the mechanics and foundations be added upon so much that the foundation for a skyscraper was turned into the foundation for a castle

Are some fixes in place? Definitely, one thing that might help is to add a tutorial to all the major features and to add less new features and expand the already existing ones up so that we have a solid foundation to work from and then spread out from there
