I think it would be better for horror psychologically speaking if there were more than one, and if they hadn't made noise - just to really amp up the eeriness overall. If it was super strong, it might be a bit annoying to come across, and get immediately one-shot. It would be more ominous, but just to be scarier, it would be better in packs & silence.

It may also be a bit harder to code, because peaking around specific obstacles at specific angles towards a specific player (lots of specifics, lol) would be a bit harder imo. Nice suggestion though! It could be a good idea for a separate concept though, so keep it in mind, you have cool ideas! :))
