thanks!
hey, here i'm again, nice work there! amazing
Thank you so much for the support!
do u have any gameplay footage u can share?
Yeah!
here you go @little lake
the his looks sick! the art is really nice imo !
the camera movement would give me nausea tho , sensitive to that kind of thing
hmmmm
how do you think i could fix that?
should i make it lerp slower? like an accessibility setting?
yea having an accessibility setting that decreases camera movement to some degree would definitely be a huge help
slower lerp could already help in some ways
the part that was most jarring was at 0:22
where u move between a lot of hard edges
2 ideas i had was either having some kind of fixed camera at these bridges so that it doesnt rotate as much
or rounding out the corners so the rotation isnt as jarring
but those are just ideas ofcs! its your game
but maybe a slower lerp would already do the trick im not sure
@dire marten i think if you want to really dive deep into that settings for the camera setup, you could check rocket league camera settings
its kinda simple tip, but it has some settings to control how the camera should behave
how fast it should follow the character, the POV, delay, angle
I felt pretty much like Sora—camera movement's too quick. A slight delay or smoother lerp, as Sora suggested, would help
Focusing on reorientation, adding a smoother lerp during camera rotation could really enhance gameplay
Your camera should follow the character, but it feels fixed on them—that makes sense? xd
i dont know if you have explored that already, but having the camera not follow the players rotation and always having the same rotation could also be a possible solution
maybe even though its 3d instead of 2d also look at super mario galaxy as an example of a camera that follows a player that has a changing gravity
Looks really great 💯
Thanks!
Check the message i sent o progress dump xD i implemented kind off a stacked transition rollback on my menu
If you want to check the code, i can share
Okay! I have implemented positional and rotational smoothness to my accessibility settings!
Hope it helps you guys!
WOW that's way better
when you made it smoother i felt way better
btw, i'm colorblind hahahaha
thank you for supporting my colorblindness hahahahaha
How about making 'smooth' the default and allowing the bar to go lower? I'd like to reduce it a bit more. Just some feedback from a dev/gamer—it's your game hahhaha but i love it
btw, i feel like it's a good game for speed runners
@dire marten
Yeah Nullcore is meant to be a fast paced game, so people will probably find weird ways to speedrun my game
@dreamy merlin By the way, these are the colorblind choices I have.
wow this is nice
I have kinda mix of protonomaly e deuteranomaly, sometimes it's hard to see green
sometimes I mistakenly think it's green but it's red hahaha
and vice versa
this kinda debuffs me when i try to do front-end tasks
Then i hope the color blind accessibility settings help! There is a planned area full of green lava, so i am sure this will help people out
this is way better! don’t feel dizzy when watching this anymore! gj :)
I made this cool cave biome
Does your game take place fully underground?
I think???? I havent really decided
i mean there are gonna be some big areas like beaches with pink sunsets
i have an idea of scenario for you hahaha if its really abount underground
ok what is it
I just love how those bismuto looks
oh yeah bismuth
its pretty
if you get some cool shaders on that, you could make a bismuth level or smth like that
using some light and fog idk
lmao just random idea for you
ill think about it! I do like how it looks a lot
your game made me think about an anime
trying to remember its name
ohh
sakugan
Sakugan is a sci-fi mecha anime set in a distant future where humans live in underground "colonies" within a vast, dangerous "Labyrinth." The story follows Memempu, a brilliant nine-year-old girl with seven doctorates, who dreams of becoming a "Marker" to explore the Labyrinth and find a mysterious surface location from her visions. Her father, Gagumber, a former Marker, reluctantly joins her. Together, they navigate the Labyrinth in a work robot, facing hostile kaiju and uncovering secrets
Nice atmosphere, I like it
Everything is hand drawn?
Yeah! I make it all! Its actually just high res pixel art
Added messages to brightness settings
Nice, I like it.
I can't wait when I get myself to making more advanced UI for my game.
@dire marten btw, do you have a main menu? I think i still didnt see your menu
Is it possible to completely lock the rotation? I could imagine some people will still get dizzy even with lots of camera smoothing
oh yeah!
here it is
ughhh one second i have to compress it so discord lets me send it
Here it is! Right now there are 4 main menu scenarios based on in game biomes
thats a good idea! It might get a bit confusing, but im sure it will help others! I will get to work
@weak sail I finished implementing the setting!
I didnt have much motivation for working on this, but now that i have posted here and have gotten so much feedback, I really feel like this game is worth it. Thanks everybody
Yes! same!!!
Wow this is good, i like it, the background moving while you move your mouse looks so good
niceeee
did you do any work about sounds? this scares me a lot hahaha
Wdym?
Game sounds, effects, your recordings are all mute
oh yeahh
I dont know why but when i do screen recording on my mac theres no sound
There IS sound
I just dont have music
Sorry, my english is quite bad hahaha non native
lmao
Me too :)
Wow, coool
Btw, later today i will mark you on my showcase, i have some updates
Just finishing some work
I added an enemy system with OOP because the old one was spaghetti
Before:
After: (it has crunchy sound i swear 😠it just wont recorddddd)
Nullcore: Weird Fast Paced RPG
😮 That looks nice. How did you program the direction of the gravity?
I made the player script look for the direction of the nearest core (circle floor thingy) and then set its velocity to the direction its in * gravity force
Hahahahaha
same problem here, i was bored and could'nt sleep
just started coding because why not hahaha
That's fun lmao hahahhaa
Ok i made a better version (its like this in game)
maybe its too fast
anyways its gonna be part of a secret acheivement
called
"Fresh"
where if you stay idle in a special place you start to breakdance and get a big crowd cheering for you
I am done building the tutorial zone! I love godot, but building in it is quite difficult. Once you go into the dark, theres a cutscene, and then the REAL game begins.
bro this looks awesome
how you create the art and textures lmao
i couldnt do that even with months of work
hahahaha that's cool
i just use Aseprite and always try to stay strict to a color palette, and always try to make the art sizes multiples of 64
i also dont make the art too complicated
then i just use color theory with lights and stuff, and add a canvas modulate node and give it a purple color
ohhh that sounds so professional hahaha
i know but i kinda just do it without thinking i just change stuff till it looks ok
yeah hahaha state of art xd
i want to create a 2d game later this next month, simple one but to learn more
btw
talking about art
i will be implementing a workflow to improve visual novel arts with AI
ooohhh
also text revision and music generation
ai can make music????
yeah, i am using that with my friend to create our first prototype visual novel
xD
and its pretty perfect
lemme send you one music i created
i mean, i dont want to destroy artists jobs but i want my dream to be created faster and cheaper xd
we want to create a group with artists that like AI so we can create more visual novels with higher quality and faster
is this the main menu theme?
nah, those are old generations
just some tests
i have generated more than 2000 musics last months hahaha
tho this one could be a main menu music, its one of the bests i created
Remade coralite arcs to be inspired by architecture from my birthplace
it tiles
and this is how the old one looked
you are really good with that
I am working on the first cutscene for my game!
Sorry i havent posted, been busy
but i did change the player code so it has useful functions
I am helping to organize my stuff with a to-do list
i was kinda just forgetting and remembering stuff
Made it so the player can actually learn to slide in the tutorial
I added a rock on which there is a stick that you can pick up. This is the first weapon of the game.
What gun modifier should i add? Gun mods change how your gun works, but im out of ideas ðŸ˜
Same here, got a lot of busy days on my work
:((
I will check your posts later today, I will be back!
I didn't have any big advances on my project
Just some random ideas, but implement bullet count and gun reload, so you add reload speed, ammo increase, shoot speed, also different types of ammo that makes you kill easier some enemies but others you will struggle if you upgrade only one of the damage types
Maybe gun variations, modifications, like more speed or more damage, more simultaneously shoots like a high caliber or sequential shoots but fast like the gun "famas"
maybe area damage, or secondary guns or other perks
if sounds cool, you could add some orbs that attack automatically and those also have his custom perks as well with different combinations of type of damage (fire, ice, darkness, holy,...)
if you intend to add more battle mechanics, more enemies...
bosses
check the game "Magicka"
you could get cool inspirations for your perks there
Nice flares lol
Ok! I will check it out
@dire marten
BTWWW
there's a brazilian game with a cooool perk system (they recently refactored it)
9 kings, i think you will like it
i'm so inspirated by this game right now hahahha
Added Parrying to Nullcore! Swing your sword at JUST the right time to reflect bullets and make it faster!
Hey everybody! Major update here:
Honestly, Nullcore has gotten way too difficult to manage.
But this game is my baby, and I just don't want to stop working on it.
Yeah, the code is bad, but I genuinely feel that I can make it better this time.
I admit have done so many things wrong, and it got very overscoped, but thats just part of growing as a developer, right?
Nullcore was actually my first project!
To Nullcore!
Update 1: (v0.1)
I added the basic assets back in, and I am refactoring the old player script.
Update 2: (v0.2)
The code works! I have implemented all of the old movement features, and it feels fast and responsive now!
Refactoring is the best thing to do, honestly when I am working or coding in godot I refactor my logics a lot of times until i find it intuitive and performative
Wow
it feels way smother
yea?
from the previous gameplays
i have been working on refactoring for at least 5 days, that's why i'm kinda disappeared hahaha it's taking too long to improve the code and make it better
wowwww
10/10
💯
:)
btwww
i was thinking about your camera
it is attached to the player or its kinda "magnetically" moving to the closer sphere?
i just thought about this
nice work
cool work
Update 4: (v0.4)
Visuals! Added Player Animations, Decor, and more Core variations!
