what do you need help with?
As of rn the ui isnt popping up but I dont know where its not working
Theres no errors and stuff the ui simply isnt popping up when youre in range
sounds like a matter one part of the UI not signalling to the next part of the UI, aka not being called at all (which would explain the lack of errors), but then again it's impossible to know because you didn't actually give any contextual information
Ill send a video when I am able to get on pc
Been busy lately so havent been able to reply to this
i'm not dying or anything so don't worry about me
Explain what you’ve already tried that didn’t work.
Provide context with how you’ve set things up in Godot, you might have missed a very simple thing we could point out.
Lastly, maybe you managed to trigger a github godot issue somehow- and you need to approach the situation differently by using a workaround.
In the future, please make sure you provide more information in your first post. We can’t read your mind, and the last thing we want to do is to make assumptions based on breadcrumbs that in the end might be a waste of time for both of us.
Cheers!
Ive set everything up as libraries
Every script pulls from another one
So like my layout wiuld be
Resource
-UI
—PowerInventory
—PowerSwitchBrick
—PowerSwitchBrickUI
-Scripts
—Fireball
—Fire_Spear
Aswell as im using a scene for the power switch brick so its a individual item
The big thing i really have is just that every scripts a library that tells other scripts and such
Theres no hard coded stuff in
I dont know what else to add besides just
The codes itself
Any of the codes that didnt work when I tested them i tried fixing using deepseek ai aswell
The games also in 3d if that changes anything
you need to break down your issue further
it doesn't really matter how you structured it, you need to analyze the problem itself - not the structure of the code.
Can you put up a simple script to make a ui pop up? Okay, now try to incorporate it with some data and go from there
iteratively building it is superior, because then you'll be able to better state your problem
starting from the other side with a complete system and working from there is going to be confusing
Show us with multiple screenshots of Godot etc, provide too much information rather than too little.
Windows Key + Shift + S -> Crop picture -> CTRL + V -> Rinse repeat
I really recommend doing this for the future, you won’t have to explain much with words besides what the problem is- we could figure out the rest from the visuals you would provide us with, hopefully.
…
Ah, I see… well, now things suddenly make sense…
Honestly, I don’t recommend using AI with code unless it’s for boilerplate code… and you’re capable of fixing it on your own without AI writing the code for you.
I should also mention it is against the rules to receive help with AI generated code or to provide AI generated code in this discord, I think.
It is…?
Regardless, let me provide you with some heartfelt advice for the future.
Yeah, but you didn’t show any
So don’t worry.
Anyway, you know how to code without AI, yeah?
Or are you extremely reliant on it right now?
🙂↕️
But as your project continues to grow in size, there’s a certain point…
Where, you know…
Yeah…
Now how do we approach this?
You used AI to write GDScript, right?
Ye
GDScript is a very beginner friendly language
It’s pythonic, and I’m sure you’ve heard of python
You want to make games, so you should invest some time into learning GDScript even if it’s hard.
Do it the oldschool way, and use AI as a learning tool and search engine.
Ask it quiz questions, check your knowledge, but first feed it the documentation links, etcetera
Do NOT outsource any coding to it until you’ve been writing GDScript without AI independently for at least 1-3 months
And then the next time you get issues with boilerplate
You will be able to tell on your own
And you could fix it with AI if you really hate coding
But in your current state, it just won’t work…
Does that make sense? @hot rover
Watch videos about GDScript to start off
And maybe use AI to give you some exercises, or to search the web for some beginner friendly tutorial (if the exercises sucks, which they likely will)
In the future @hot rover you should also seek help in #1235175950241628273
And be completely honest about everything from the start, so you can receive help
I had a request open there for about a week and nobody replied
Because you didn’t provide enough information.
So i moved it here
.
Explain what you’re good at rn
How long you’ve been working with Godot
Be honest about how much you hate code
Ask for help in becoming better at the things you hate, and how
Instead of asking for help on tackling this one issue, learn how to tackle it on your own independently
If you start answering those sort of questions
And show passion
A lot more people will answer your question in beginner questions
