Offensive markers: Mining should not spawn them, more of them.
Defensive markers: Only active undermining control points (no decay) or highlight actively used offensive markers.
Wow it worked now. My assumption is that it has a problem with me using the word "marker" multiple times...🤷
I'd definitely vote for defensive markers highlighting enemy offensive markers. It makes sense and gives power members a way to track where PCZs are on the defensive side
I’d also say get rid of displaying decay. I’d prefer if the markers were, say, triggered by powerplay goods.
Can get rid of decay while we're at it. It just makes things grindy. If not enough UM is happening buff UM
I don't think they will get rid of decay in general. Not enough undermining going on, even with the markers now in the bubble. Reinforcement still far out numbers undermining plus decay.
yes, I think that's an incentive problem. UM loops are confusing and unrewarding, so players don't do it, so fdev has to automate!! it instead, which just makes things worse for players
What is confusing about UM loops? I don't get it. I think UM is fine, it's just not the preferred way to play the game sadly. The only thing I would add is some new activities, because there really are too few. Something like snuggling or piracy for example.
Think of it from a new player perspective. Ok let me go undermine by hacking holoscreens! Oh no, now i'm a criminal. Ok well, since i'm a criminal, let me do this crime thing. Oh, that gives like no merits and now i'm even more a criminal etc

But you only get fined for holoscreen hacking. And crimes should just be renamed as "murder".
Yeah so, overhaul of UM needed. The markers are a good stab at trying to make something more viable but held back by everything else is my point

If I would have one suggestion for undermining it would be this: Tweak the penalties. They are far too harsh for you to think about attacking. At least make exploited systems be without any penalty. Other than that I think undermining is fine, except for it having not enough options.

Despite the original message being deleted I agree. The red defensive markers spawning on systems with 10 UM while another system is marked for pcz's by another power and has <50k UM cp is just silly.
Also, make CGs and Capitals unable to spawn markers
Oh I forgot one thing about undermining. Make uploads take less time like 30 seconds. They are just not worth doing right now and changing them to be somewhat effective will make Odyssey content for Powerplay more interesting.
Archer's activities are soon hostile to station or 1 time per cycle. Nav beacon generates too few power ships, and for everything else the merit reward isn't sufficient. Archer pilots don't generally undermine as a result. Not to mention we get undermined a lot, 8 markers against us on day 1, 5-6 average since then.
For holoscreen hacking rep damage needs to be much less. ~3 instances and you are hostile to every station owned by that faction in the system.
